Walking in another world – Chapter 525 – Composite skill

After all the monsters are down, another treasure chest spawns.

“Shizune, was that… Lightning magic?”

It’s not in the list of magic I can learn, but it makes sense for the Sorcerer King to be able to learn skills.

But Shizune can use stuff like Thunder normally.

“Thunder… It doesn’t have a specific element. I guess you could call it composite magic.”

“Composite magic?”

“Yeah. I learned the Composite skill as I leveled up.”

She says, and she fires another kind of magic against a wall.

“Crimson Rock!”

A burning rock hits the wall and explodes violently.

The loud noise leaves Elsa and Alto with their eyes wide open.

The wall isn’t damaged, but I assume that’s because it’s a dungeon.

“Well, it’s useful because I can use stuff like this.”

I check my skill list while listening to Shizune.

Composite, Composite, Composite… There it is.

It costs three skill points, but it will definitely be useful.

And right after I learn it, spells flood my mind. There are a lot.

It looks like there are things outside of the six elements I can learn, but also things I can’t use just yet. I probably will be able to use them if I level up the skill.

And I can tell the Sorcerer King job is now available. It gives an extra three hundred MP…

I’m more interested in the amount of MP itself than magic energy being stronger. I’m going to need more magic power as we keep going up the dungeon… Especially area of effect magic, so maybe I’ll switch to Sorcerer King.

And I’m going to ask to fire more magic in order to level up the skill. But of course, I can’t steal Elsa and Alto’s opportunities to get some experience.

I change jobs, and decide to test it out right away, so I put out my hand towards the wall and chant a spell.

“Thunder!”

Lightning strikes the wall, and sparks fly. But I feel like it was thinner than Shizune’s.

“W-what was that!?”

But she’s still surprised. I guess she would be, after she spoke so confidently and I used the same spell.

The way we were talking made it seem like I couldn’t do it. Then again, I really couldn’t before I heard about it from her.

“Sora, did you…”

Mia knows how this stuff works, so she asks that with an exasperated expression.

I nod, and she sighs.

“I also learned the Composite skill. That’s how I can use this spell.”

“…You just conveniently learned it now? Did you really not know it from the start?”

She’s in full on jumping at shadows mode.

And she’s all over the place, feeling like she’s being toyed with and wanting Elsa to comfort her.

I don’t want her to get the wrong impression, so should I tell her about my skill?

Yes, I’ll tell her about Walking.

“That’s so unfair. And they threw you out when you had a skill like that… Idiots.”

She says before continuing.

“But you don’t get experience without walking… I don’t think I could do it even if I didn’t get tired. I totally forgot about walking once I learned how to drive.”

She says she even drove to places that wouldn’t be that far away on foot.

That’s what living in a society with cars does to you, but I wouldn’t really know.

Then she asks me about what skills I can use or learn, and that she wants me to make a car, but that’s not within the scope of my skills.

“I know you have a lot to talk about, but shouldn’t we be going back?”

Asks Rurika when there’s a break in Shizune’s talking.

They’ve already retrieved the contents of the treasure chest, and are just waiting, although Chris is interested in the thing from our world Shizune called a car.

We exit the dungeon, have lunch, and head to the training area again so Elsa and Alto can get more practice.

It’s mostly Rurika who instructs them, and she teaches them how to use a dagger, and how to hold it with both hands too.

“We should teach them how to use a spear too.”

She says, but none of us uses spears.

Well, Kaina does, but she can’t teach it. She’s like a prodigy, so it’s all about feel to her.

Hikari might be like that too in some ways.

I could learn a spear skill, but it would take time to get to a point where I could teach.

“…Then what about Kaede? She’s a good teacher.”

Says Shizune when she sees we’re all trying to figure something out.
