“You want to forge a sword?”
“Well, it’s more like I want to experience smiting…”
“…Hm, then how about you give it a try?”
I thought he’d say no, so I’m surprised.
“Haine!”
He calls a dwarf.
“Teach this guy how to smith. Teaching is a good way to learn too.”
Haine is taken aback at first, but bows deeply when he hears the last part.
“H-hum, I want to learn too.”
Says Shun.
“You too?”
“Yes, I want to be better at maintaining weapons. The one I use typically doesn’t need it, but I still want to learn.”
Darc is interested in Shun’s weapon, so he shows it to him.
“Mu, this is… Forged from dragon fang.”
According to Shun, it was made from materials gathered from the dragon at the end of the dungeon in Fors.
“I see. It’s weak, but it has a regeneration ability. I guess this wouldn’t need servicing…”
“…I’m still interested, or rather, I want to be able to do more things. So if I could experience more…”
So that’s what’s on his mind.
“…Fine. The letter said you wanted a strong weapon.”
Says Darc while moving his eyes towards me.
“I think it’d be best if it was something I made. And if I know about smiting, I can add to my weapon and make something stronger. That’s what I had in mind.”
One of the advantages of making weapons with Alchemy is that I can easily redo them. And it doesn’t take long, compared to smiting at least.
I might be able to reforge weapons, but I feel like that takes a lot of effort.
“What kind of weapon are you using?”
“A normal mithril sword.”
I unsheathe it, and hand it to Darc.
“Hm, it is a mithril sword… Isn’t it?”
Darc looks at it closely, but starts gradually frowning more.
“Who made this?”
“…? I did.”
“You did? How?”
He yells with surprise. Shun and Haine are surprised too, along with all the other dwarves.
“What happened, gramps?”
“Nothing. I was just a bit surprised.”
Darc takes a deep breath.
“How did you do it? It wasn’t by smiting.”
“Hum, it was with Alchemy…”
“Alchemy!?”
He’s holding back his voice a little after yelling earlier, but he still looks a little excited. Or is it baffled?
It would take a long time to explain, so I take out ore from the Item Box, infuse it with magic energy, and make a short sword.
When Darc sees it… No, Heine too, their eyes open wide as they look at it in my hands.
“You really did it…”
Darc takes the short sword with trembling hands, and examines it from multiple angles.
“I see.”
He then hands it to Haine, and calms down.
The sudden change leaves me confused.
“I was surprised to see you make a weapon with alchemy, but it has decisive flaws.”
“Flaws?”
“You said, remember? You want to be able to make stronger weapons. I think weapons made with alchemy are worse than ones made by smiting.”
So Alchemy has a limit… Then I guess I really do need to use the Blacksmith skill to forge them from scratch?
As I think that, Heine keeps looking at the short sword, and speaks.
“Master, I don’t think that’s right.”
“What isn’t?”
Darc glares at Heine, who shrinks back.
“I think it has to do with your level, master. I’m confident that I can make something better than this, but compared to an average blacksmith, this easily passes.”
Darc then laughs loudly.
“I see, you got a point. So you can make this sort of thing with alchemy, uh?”
“I have never heard of it, master. And I have a few friends who can use alchemy.”
I feel their eyes on me. And Shun’s too.
Yes, I think my Alchemy is different from regular alchemy. Chris and the others said so too.
But it’s difficult to explain. After all, it’s already done…
Would he accept it if I said it’s a trait of people summoned from another world? The fact that I’m from another world isn’t really a secret at this point, but… That might be the most effective way.

Thanks for the treat.
