The situation changes a lot when Siphon and the others reach us.
The weapons they’re holding are the dull ones they use for mock battles, but they still hurt. In fact, if someone gets hit in a bad spot, they could die, especially with the metal ones they’re holding now.
People who are hit faint with pain and leave the fight, but that’s better than the alternative.
The one who causes the most damage is Hikari. She unleashes Projectile Slashes while getting closer, and then uses her dagger that has the paralyzing effect.
The problem is how she slashes. She’s making it so they aren’t cut when she hits them, but I still hear a dull sound when they’re hit. Also, I think she’s aiming for vital areas, and it looks like the people hit by her are in more pain than the others.
When all the… Enemies? Anyway, when they’re all down, she makes sure to hit everyone with her dagger. And she stabs them if the paralysis isn’t working on them too well.
She’s thorough, and merciless. Siphon and the others’ faces twitch when they see that, but Hikari gives everyone a satisfied nod when she’s done.
Well, considering what we’re dealing with, she’s not wrong to want to make sure.
They bind them too just to be sure, and when they’re done, Siphon turns around.
He’s looking at the giants. I look at them too, and now that I’m looking at them like this, I can see a few things.
A lot of emotions like wariness, relief, confusion… We keep watching them, but then what appears to be their leader steps forward.
Their leader doesn’t come too close, and stops with a good distance between us.
“Who are you? What have you come here to do?”
Asks the giant, Kitos. The fact that we can understand them makes it clear they aren’t monsters.
Some humanoid monsters can talk, but not many. I think it’s just named ones.
Also, Kitos appears to know Kaina and Mister Calotos.
I didn’t expect to see anyone in a place like this. I’m surprised they’re even alive.
“We’re adventurers. And…”
Says Siphon, speaking for all of us while he explains what brought us here.
Kitos’ expression hardens while he talks. Actually, the other giants also look nervous.
Kitos looks to be pondering what to do after Siphon is done talking, and other giants also make their voices heard.
They’re split into two sides, one who speaks with malice towards us, and one that’s worried.
Kitos hears them, and speaks again.
“Isn’t there anything to you?”
Siphon hears this and tilts his head.
Kitos ponders something again, and then explains.
“We are cursed.”
◇ ◇ ◇
After hearing Kitos’ explanation, Siphon presses his chest.
It looks like he knows what Kitos means, but I don’t.
I don’t feel anything bad even when I look directly at them.
I look around, and see that Geitz and Yuno also have uneasy expressions.
Conversely, Sera, Hikari, and Kaede and the others who came from another world are fine.
According to Kitos, they were cursed a long time ago. In fact, it was their ancestors, not them directly.
This curse has stayed in their bloodline as it crossed generations.
Because of this, anything that looks at these giant people is filled with enmity and attacks them.
That’s what they’ve been taught for generations, but most of them didn’t really believe it. Even Kitos thought that was impossible.
But then, something happened. They have lived here for a long time, but no one knew that for a long time, because their village was surrounded by a strong barrier.
And then one day, it was gone. And apparently they don’t know why.
A few days later, a group of monsters attacked.
The attacks kept increasing, and they began to believe what they were told was actually true.
I look at Argo and the others. They can’t move because they’re bound, but their expressions are grave, and they’re glaring at the giants.
Again, they are split between ones who think we should be eliminated, and ones who think they should go back to the village and ask the elders what they think.
The voices of the first group are louder, and I feel like if they’re pushed back, they might actually start rampaging.
But amid all that, I can see something swirling around them. Anxiety.
“Siphon…”
I look at Siphon, and so do Naoto and the others.
He’s basically the leader here.
“I see…”
Siphon says he should put on the restraints and go to their village to hear them out.
I think he’s saying that because if we went against them, there would be a lot of casualties. And I think the giants are worried about the same thing.

Perhaps Mia can lift the curse with her holy magic.
Thanks.
