After using Transfer to get to Altair, we head to the tenth floor of the dungeon.
We meet Sirk in the castle, who yells about Hikari, but Sahana shuts him up.
Same old same old.
Actually, I’ve heard that since he’s technically the king, he’s been getting the proper education, but I don’t really see any growth. Is it because of Hikari’s influence?
Yuini is calm and collected as always. He could learn from her.
We tell Yuini why we’re here, and she takes us to the tenth floor of the dungeon in the castle.
Then we have a problem. When we tell Calotos about the giants and ask him to come along, Eliana gets jealous. We tell her we don’t mind bringing her along, but she says she can’t leave.
I end up promising that next time, I’ll bring everyone with me, and we’ll treat her to a nice meal.
She was alone for a long time, but she’s been with Calotos lately, and she talked to me and the others. That means that she remembered how it was to be with other people, and now feels lonely if no one’s with her.
“Come back soon!”
She makes sure to hammer that into me.
Calotos possesses my bracelet, tells me to call him when we’re there, and falls asleep.
Once that’s over with, we go back to Fuxto, where we see Mia and Chris are ready to go.
They also explained things to Shun and Ryuryu, so Shun is also ready.
“How are you doing, Hikari?”
“My stomach’s full. It’s fine. Let’s go!”
Part of me thinks she should rest for a day, but it looks like she’s all better. Worst case scenario, I guess I could carry her.
“Take care of things here, Ryuryu.”
Ryuryu reluctantly nods. She can’t help but want to go too, when people she knows are being held in that village.
There’s the issue with the curse too, but we also should leave at least one person here that knows what happened.
I think it will be fine, but we need someone to do something in case we don’t come back. We settled on a period of time, and if we don’t come back by then, she’s supposed to report to the beast king.
We say goodbye to her, and leave Fuxto before the sun rises.
◇ ◇ ◇
“There really aren’t any monsters here.”
I don’t see reactions on Map either, so we just follow Hikari, and head to the village of the giants.
She also tells us about them along the way, and Kaina in particular listens very closely.
Three days after we left, I see the first monster reaction on Map after noon. But I also see more reactions beyond that.
I tell Hikari an approximate distance, and she tells me the village is in the direction they’re headed.
Would it be hard to catch up to them? If we walk through the night… No, it would still depend on the speed of the monsters.
Anyway, we increase our pace a little, but don’t overdo it.
If we catch up to them and we’re tired from being in such a hurry, they might get the upper hand anyway.
The monster reactions I see on Map are big. Magic Energy Detection shows me one big reaction too.
But since we’re not rushing, I can send out a golem instead. I call the canine golem, give it instructions, and it takes off running.
If we know what we’re dealing with, that will make it easier for us.
According to Kaina, not many giants can use magic, so they have a tough time against monsters that resist physical attacks.
“Master?”
“…It looks like they’re still going.”
Surprisingly, the monsters are still moving, even as we make preparations to camp for the night.
In fact, I feel like they’re going even faster.
But still, they’re monsters, living beings. Surely they can’t just keep going forever.
I think that while we eat, and then we decide in which order we’ll keep watch. I check Map while keeping watch, and see the monsters finally stopping just before daybreak.
The next day, we have breakfast, and move out. And the monsters start moving again just as we’re thinking about having an early lunch.
They really are slow compared to how they were during the night, but that also means the golem will probably reach them a little later than I planned, because I was counting on them always moving like they do during the day.
The golem eventually reaches them just as the sun is coming up the next day, and the monsters stop moving.
I quickly use Sync to see what they look like, and what I see is…
“Undead?”
Yes, most are undead, but some don’t appear to be undead.
I tell Chris what I see.
“…A Monster bringing undead… It might be a necromancer.”
Says Chris.
“But we should hurry. If there is a necromancer, it can revive undead. Without fire, light, or holy magic, it might be a tough fight.”
She adds.
We all hear her, and decide to increase the pace even more.
