Walking in another world – Chapter 590 – Fors dungeon – Part twenty-one

The hellhound boss is strong. It’s level seventy, so it’s not actually high level compared to the ones on the other floors, but it feels strong because I’m fighting it alone.

Up until now, I would block their attacks while the others attacked them. That’s how we took the others down, and it was basically a surefire way to win.

I can hear noises from fighting behind me, and use Presence Detection.

I sense more presences, which can only mean one thing. The summoned monsters are summoning more.

I want to go help, but I can’t leave this one alone. It will definitely summon more if I do.

Then I know what to do. Trust the others, and hold the boss until they can back me up… Or take it down.

But it feels like the monster knows this too, and it takes distance when it sees an opening.

I can’t catch it with my speed alone, so I need skills to make up for it.

When it moves away, I use Transfer to get close, and stop it from summoning. What’s troubling is that it uses its ability to summon as bait to counterattack. And yet, even though I know that, I can’t let it get too far from me, and have to use Transfer.

The monster knows this, and makes use of it.

The first time it does this, I’m hit kind of badly, but I block with my shield the second time, and evade the third time.

This is thanks to my new Memory skill. I can use it to get a good grasp on my opponent’s movements, and predict what it will do next.

I got it to learn how Shun and the others fought, but it works with monsters too.

That said, the size discrepancy means that normally, I can’t make use of it that much, but it’s good for a prolonged fight against this hellhound one on one.

I block one of its attacks, and attack with the sword with the Absorption skill. It hits, but it’s completely blocked.

Still, with every hit, it takes away some of its magic energy, but at this rate, I’m going to run out first.

I use the MP Conversion skill to stop that from happening, and the Natural Recovery Boost skill is also helping.

I don’t have time to walk around in this fierce back and forth, so my Walking skill isn’t doing much.

I look at my stats, and swap my sword.

I say swap, but what I really do is block an attack with my shield, and use that opportunity to put the sword in the Item Box, and take out another weapon.

It’s partially because I can do this so quickly that I’m free to fight on my own.

I would be doing better if I could drink mana potions, but it won’t let me.

I have to use the mithril sword while my MP and SP recover, and once they do, I swap back to the Absorption weapon again.

This keeps repeating, and eventually, there’s a change in the reactions on this floor.

I use Presence Detection, and feel reactions disappearing at an incredible speed all of a sudden. I’m curious about what’s happening, but I face the boss and swing my sword.

I feel like it’s losing its luster the more reactions disappear, and my attacks are working better. I’m sure it can tell what’s happening.

Unfortunately, I can’t look behind me, but that could actually be for the best.

I keep attacking, and the magic energy I feel from the boss is considerably weaker.

I try my best not to look away, as I carefully sap its magic, and sometimes strike more boldly.

Eventually, it screams, as its flesh is ripped and blood sprays.

I’m keeping track of the disappearing reactions, and I wonder if I should keep attacking or wait for the others.

But this only lasts for a moment, because I quickly decide to attack.

The reasons are time, and the fact that I don’t know what might happen anymore.

I’m worried because something happened that wasn’t in the materials we read. The summoned monsters summoned more.

And so, I focus on attacking, using Swordmaster skills here and there, and the hellhound is pushed into being fully on defense.

I press it against a wall, and pay attention to its movements.

And then, as I feel reactions disappearing behind me, I finish off the boss.
