Rurika has recovered, and after she gets back into shape and feels a hundred percent, we get back in the dungeon.
I’ve been busy sharing what we learned from documents, and making all that equipment with Alchemy.
Rurika, Hikari, and Sera have been pretty focused on reviewing their new skills. Or rather, training to use them to their fullest.
Rurika showed a new way to use her Gale during that last fight, so Hikari is looking for more possibilities too.

“So that’s an orthros…”
A two-headed beast, one with red eyes and one with green eyes… Does that mean it uses fire and wind?
The documents said we can tell what magic they use by the color of their eyes.
The orthros roars, and charges at us. I step forward, and Hikari throws out Projectile Slashes because we’re worried about it summoning others while moving. I also attack with Earth Magic while moving forward.
The orthros doesn’t dodge it, and doesn’t slow down either.
I brace myself and hold up my shield to prepare for the attack, and also cast Appraisal. It says this orthros is level seventy-seven.
It’s two levels higher than the hellhound that was on the seventy-fifth floor, but I feel like that hellhound’s charge was stronger.
Then we keep fighting it up close, but it goes down strangely easily.
“That was disappointing.”
“It didn’t even use magic.”
“I felt it gathering magic energy, so I think it was trying to use it.”
Say Rurika, Sera, and then Chris.
I did catch reactions here and there when it was concentrating magic energy, but they got weaker when we attacked.
“And it was slower than the hellhounds.”
“Our attacks often hit it.”
Say Rurika and then Kaina.
I think the way we managed to keep it surrounded played a big part.
No matter where it tried to dodge, there was always someone waiting. We kept slowly closing in on it, until it was completely cornered and defeated.
“So what now? Should we keep going?”
Suffice to say, none of us look tired.
“We can take a break first. I want to check my equipment too.”
No one objects to Rurika’s suggestion. I want to check my sword and shield too, and see what disposable items everyone used.
We didn’t get to use any of the anti-magic items, but we did use throwing weapons. Not many, but still, we should have a grasp on how many we have left.
Then I restock everyone’s stuff, because we can’t do that during a fight.
The item pouches they use have good capacity, but they’re still limited.
Sera in particular has to carry big throwing axes, so she can’t store as much as Rurika or Hikari.
Still, it’s not much of a problem, because she can display her power more if she fights up close anyway.
After a ten minute break, we head to the seventy-seventh floor, where we beat another monster without a tough fight.
Their eyes are also red and green, and they shoot fire and wind magic right at the start, but I block it all with Aura Shield, Chris casts spirit magic, and Hikari attacks with Projectile Slash.
Rurika takes Sera with her using Gale, we use the opening they give us to get close, and we all take it down.
At the end, it shoots a fireball, like it doesn’t care if it gets caught in it too, but Rurika and Sera deflect it.
This doesn’t cause any damage, because of the magic items, but it shows that they are able to use magic even if they are being attacked.
Monsters use grunts instead of words, but we can tell when they’re going to use magic when they start gathering magic energy.
At least now we know that there’s no exact method to stop them from using magic. But from now on, we have to act knowing we might not be able to stop them from summoning more monsters.
“We shouldn’t think about it too deeply. In fact, we should just be happy to learn that.”
“Rurika is right. Let’s just keep that in mind from now on.”
Say Rurika and Chris.
They’re right, it’s good that we learned. We might’ve been thrown off if a monster summoned more when we thought it couldn’t, and an opening like that can mean the difference between life and death.
We take another break, and advance to the seventy-eighth floor.
