Walking in another world – Chapter 601 – Plan against cerberus

“So according to grandma…”

Chris starts explaining, and apparently there are ways to deal with Hellfire and Hellwall.

Hellfire can be blocked with equipment that has the light or holy attributes. However, there’s still a good chance that equipment with those attributes will still break if it keeps being attacked.

Also, holy magic has to be applied by an expert.

Mia can use holy magic, and I can use light. The issue is how long the effects will hold.

If we have to keep reapplying it, Mia and I will be kept busy most of the time. And it will be hard for Kaina to take the role of guarding the back row on her own, if we are fighting multiple monsters.

The other way to block it would be to cancel it out with magic of our own.

“Does it have to be water spirit magic?”

“Yes, out of the three, it’s the only one I have a contract with.”

Light spirit magic could do it, but Chris only uses fire, water, and wind, so it has to be water.

“Would normal water magic not work?”

“Yes.”

Chris says to Figel.

“What about Hellwall?”

“It’s fundamentally the same as Hellfire, but since it’s defensive magic, it’s more difficult to break, and puts a big strain on weapons.”

“So even if our attacks might get through, it’s best to avoid it.”

The beast king is smiling awkwardly, because he likes to just push forward and break through.

He’s sighing even as he speaks.

“Well, we still have to see how often they use magic. These two things are what we have to watch out for the most, but they have a lot of attack options, like breathing fire.

The beast king is right, they can use stuff like regular fire or dark magic too.

“Yes. Also, dark magic has a lot of status ailment spells, so we can’t forget to deal with that too.”

Is that how dark magic works?

I have resistance, but there are curses, darkness, and fascination spells. There’s also the fact that it’s hard to tell when they use dark magic.

Curses can be dealt with holy magic, but things like darkness and fascination have to be lifted with Recovery.

That means having to keep checking with Appraisal.

“Well, let’s discuss what we can do first. I think we need to prepare for a battle of attrition.”

Hanging in there and waiting for the opponent to weaken could work.

But how high are cerberus’ physical abilities? Nothing here mentions that.

Maybe its magic is so troubling that they only focused on that. Or maybe it’s physically not much different from the monsters that came before it.

Needless to say, adventurers that made it this far had to have a considerably high level. Also, the ones that left these notes were from a time when there was no penalty for dying in this dungeon.

Will the dungeon go back to the way it was after we beat it and free the god that’s supposedly sealed here? I think this place will become a lot more popular if that happens, and they’re going to have to start restricting entry.

If people can train with no worries, I think the lower floors could become a perfect place to train newbies. The biggest problem would be getting too used to this place and having trouble out there.

“So let’s go… Two days from now?”

“Yes, that’s fine with us.”

I look at Rurika and the others, and no one objects.

I’m more surprised because I feel like the beast king would want to go straight away.

“W-well, I have some work I have to do.”

He says, probably because he can read my expression. And Nene is smiling next to him.

I see, so he read Nene’s expression too, and quickly changed plans.

The beast king has a lot of responsibility, so he’s busier than us.

He grumbles when we talk, but I feel like he does his job properly.

I think that’s really good of him.

The next day, we have nothing to do, so we go take a walk around town.

Naoto’s party is also taking a break today, so all the girls are having fun talking.

We’re walking after them, but… Looking at Naoto and Shun reminds me of myself a while back.

They’re currently in disguise. Being famous isn’t easy.

I also used to wear a mask to hide my identity, but I actually see several people wearing masks around town.

There are quite a few people with a peculiar sense of fashion when it comes to their clothes too. And one where I don’t know where I would look. I get that it’s easier to move around in that, but it’s pretty provocative.

Then again, Rurika and the others don’t react at all, like that’s perfectly normal.

Us otherworlders on the other hand, don’t feel that way.
