“Hikari, is this that meat?”
“Yes, wolf meat!”
I’m surprised by the taste after one bite.
It just has salt and pepper, and yet, it’s so good. The flavor keeps spreading in my mouth the more I bite into it, and leaves a good aftertaste. When I put something else in my mouth, it mixes with that aftertaste to bring out the good flavor again.
So that’s why Hikari wasn’t upset when she was the only one who got an item not related to combat.
“Is this the effect of putting it in the gourd?”
“Yes. It’s a magic item that makes meat tasty.”
She says while taking the gourd out of the item pouch with a big smile.
For some reason, Appraisal doesn’t show me anything about it.
“Master, I request meat.”
“I’ll give you after we’re done eating.”
“Yes, it’s a promise. It’s better to eat food while it’s hot.”
Hikari’s right, so we talk about what to do next while we take our time eating.
Siphon starts drinking, but Yuno doesn’t stop him. She usually doesn’t unless he starts drinking in a weird way.
Also, since most people here don’t drink, and Argo and the others aren’t heavy drinkers, there’s less danger of him drinking too much.
Once we’re done eating, I prepare a bath with magic, and everyone takes turns using it.
“Master, I want meat.”
“What kind of meat this time? Or do you want several?”
“Just one for now.”
So I give her orc meat.
“By the way Hikari, you said for now, so…”
“Yes, this keeps evolving if I keep using it. It’s great.”
According to her, it gets new features the more she uses it.
What’s with this high-performance thing? It really is great.
Also, it seems the longer meat stays inside, the tastier it becomes. Is it maturing?
However, once inside, the meat can’t come out for at least two days.
There’s also a set amount that can be put inside, but apparently that also grows as she uses it.
This item is like a skill.
Hikari puts the meat inside it, and heads off to take a bath in a good mood.
◇ ◇ ◇
The next day, I go to Altair with the same people as usual.
“It’s been a while!”
“How have you been?”
“Hey little girl… Did you shrink? The big one’s the same.”
“Who are you calling little girl? You were beaten by Tania like a weakling…”
Eliana is mad over being called little girl, and starts slapping Stia.
But… She doesn’t really seem mad. I feel like this is normal for them.
Stia doesn’t seem concerned either.
We could just go back, but it looks like Kaina wants to talk to Calotos, and Stia says he wants to teach some fighting techniques to Mia, and then Rurika and the others.
I’m surprised when he takes human form, but considering the monsters in that dungeon could take humanoid form too, I guess it’s not that strange for a god like Stia to also do it.
After seeing Mia’s Possession, Eliana faces her one time, but unfortunately, she doesn’t have much power.
Actually, she should be focusing on staying quiet and recovering, instead of using it like this.
Chris is next to me watching too, and she asks me a question.
“Sora, do you have any plans for where we are going next?”
“We’re back in Majolica, so Prekes would make sense…”
It’s also in the Magic State, and it should take us a few days to get there.
Maybe we can get Naoto and the others to help, but apparently they went to the dungeon in Physis after the tournament, so they want to relax for a while.
We could take it easy for a bit too.
“I’m going to see Wil the day after tomorrow. And you and the others…”
“Will leave you to handle it.”
So I have to go alone? I mean, I get it but…
Wil is Leila’s father, and also a noble who is the feudal lord of Majolica.
But what about the beast king? Well, he was acting as an adventurer when we met him, and his loose footwork means he doesn’t really feel like a king.
And there’s the fact that we saw Ryuryu complaining to him a lot. He’s more of a comrade in arms, I guess.
We end up spending the day in this dungeon, and Hikari thanks Stia, with a rare full smile on her face.
Stia also gives her a satisfied nod after seeing her.
“Well then Sora, see you next time~. Be careful out there.”
Eliana was the one who tasked us with looking for the gods, but she doesn’t want us to work too hard. We might end up collapsing halfway through if we do.
Although we probably did push ourselves too far on the hundredth floor. Still, it was unavoidable to conquer that dungeon.
I think we can come here and ask for advice if something troubles us later on.
