Walking in another world – Chapter 658 – Zuirya dungeon – Part twenty-two

The minions get stronger.

After waiting for them to spawn twice and casting Appraisal, I understood that I don’t understand.

They all had different levels, and the second group also had monsters that had lower levels than the first.

If we’re averaging them out, I’d say the second group was higher, but not much. Maybe that slight difference would make them seem stronger, but if I had to place a bet, I’d wager on the exhaustion of the long fight having a stronger effect.

Maybe they get stronger from the third group forward, but we didn’t have to go that far.

I just figured if it spawned more, I’d Appraise them.

Anyway, the reason why this fight drags on is the ogre lord. It’s tough. Too tough.

Being hit with Chris’ spirit magic five times wasn’t enough to take it down. A goblin lord goes down in one, and an orclord two.

It’s the same with my magic.

Furthermore, in the time it took between her magic attacks, Argo and the others approached it and dealt damage. And it still didn’t go down, because of its regenerative abilities.

I could see it regenerate after being hit with magic. And cuts disappeared right after they were dealt.

There was no doubt it was its immense magic energy that was making it happen, so we had to keep going until it was dry.

Ogres don’t use magic, so the fact that the magic energy was all used for regeneration also helped.

“The reference materials said it was tough, but I wasn’t expecting this.”

“If Sora didn’t teach us about magic energy, I’d assume it would never end and give up.”

Say Argo and Guilford with sighs.

“And Chris makes me wish we had a sorcerer too.”

“There are a lot compared to holy magic users, but not that many in general. And that number goes down a lot more when you’re looking for someone that can fight something like this.”

I listen to them talk, and I kind of feel like that’s why our adventure in this dungeon has been drawing attention. Come to think of it, few parties have sorcerers.

We’ve met a lot of parties with sorcerers, so our perception of their rarity is skewed.

Then again, we don’t usually work with other people in the first place.

“Should we end it here for today?”

We’ve already looked into the ninth floor, so we can rest for today, even though it’s still morning.

Rurika and the others don’t object, so we head straight to the inn.

Argo and the others take it easy in their room, and after resting a bit in ours, we borrow the kitchen.

We’re not cooking to eat now, it’s to eat in the dungeon. We don’t know how long we’ll be there next time, so we prepare a lot.

“It’s finally time for the ninth floor. Those demons will be trouble.

Says Rurika while cutting vegetables.

“But I’m looking forward to the treasure.”

“You’re right, Hikari, but there are a lot of people there. I hope we don’t end up fighting over the monsters.”

The quota is five hundred of any monster, so we just have to fight every monster we see. And let’s ignore the number.

If we had to take down a specific number of each monster, we would never enter that boss room.

But since kings and lords still count as one here, we’d rather not hunt them.

I have Map, Presence Detection, and Magic Energy Detection, so we might be able to pick and choose, but since there will be other people around, I think it’s faster to just hunt whatever we can get.

Demons are harder to hunt, but we can do it. Especially with Mia around.

I want to find a treasure chest for Hikari’s sake, because she’s looking forward to them, but it’s all down to luck. Unfortunately, Map doesn’t show them.

After cooking quite a bit of food, we go back to the room. Between this and what we already had, we should be good for a couple of months.

The next day, we head to the ninth floor, but see a few parties rush into the staircase.

They peek at us, but keep going.

“What happened?”

“They were in a hurry.”

“They looked flustered.”

Mia and Hikari are right. They’re not headed to help wounded people, so what happened?

“Did another rare monster spawn?”

Says Argo half jokingly, but since it’s the ninth floor I think lords would be a bigger threat.

Ah, but since the lords are typically fought in boss rooms, variant species might be more trouble, even if the lords are stronger.

There’s also the fact that there’s information about the lords.

The variant species on the eighth floor also used poison and power you wouldn’t expect from an orc to beat back the others.

But we ended up not knowing just how strong that variant species was, because Hikari easily took it down with a Projectile Slash.

There’s also the fact that the adventurers there were running low on water and consumable items.

In any case, it looks like we need to be cautious.
