The ninth floor of the Zuirya dungeon. Maybe it’s because we were away, but it feels like the placement of the monsters has changed a lot in the past couple of days.
The reactions that were in the outer edges are moving towards the staircase, but I think it will take them over three days to get here. I don’t think they can make it back without going through some pretty intricate spots.
“Let’s go at them!”
I tell everyone what I see on Map, and Argo slaps his cheeks.
Maybe it’s because he had a fulfilling couple of days, or maybe it’s because he received his share of the sale of the lords, but he’s fired up.
Actually, Argo doesn’t really need money, so I assume it’s the former.
Anyway, we’re feeling refreshed, so we advance through the dungeon with light steps.
Actually, I’m the same as always. I don’t get tired while walking, and I’m feeling relaxed.
The first monsters we meet are five goblins. Normally Chris would burn them with magic, but we’re going to fight them up close as a way to warm up.
That said, not everyone gets to fight, so it’s just my party this time. And since they’re goblins, they go down easily. Even if these goblins are stronger and faster than the ones we find in the wild.
That’s definitely because of the way the dungeon is put together, but in the end, goblins are goblins. Sometimes wild goblins are strong too, but these would still beat them.
The next one is a group of three orcs, that are taken down by Argo’s party.
Their moves are really sharp. You wouldn’t think these are the same people we saw hungover yesterday.
“We can control that pretty well at this point. Sora, if you’re going to start drinking too, how about you get used to it? We can teach you.”
I’m not thinking about drinking, so I’m not too interested. I guess I could talk to them when I do feel like drinking. Not that I will before we’re done looking for all the gods.
We also fight demons and ogres, and end the day with a total of thirty-seven monsters.
This leaves us with about fifty to go. Not a bad pace.
But there were some superior species among the normal monsters, even if we didn’t find any kings or lords.
The next day, I check Map again, and we head towards monsters while avoiding people.
When we see monsters, we prioritize just putting them down, so we use long range attacks.
“Four left… Should we use the shamal horn?”
We have four uses of the magic item that calls monsters.
The number of monsters that spawns is random, so we’d hit the quota even if every use spawned one.
“Does that mean there aren’t any monsters near here?”
I nod to Argo. There are also other parties near them, so they could get to them first.
“…How about we try it one time?”
Asks Argo while looking around at everyone.
No one objects, so Hikari uses the horn.
Three monsters appear, two demons and one orc general.
Mia uses her staff with a blessing infused to take out one demon, and I use my light infused sword to take out another.
The orc general is felled easily by Rurika and Sera.
One more to go.
Hikari blows the horn again, and three orcs and two ogres appear.
Argos’ party takes the orcs, while Hikari and Chris take down the ogres.
“That’s it.”
Says Argo with a deep breath.
It went pretty smoothly on the first day, but we had a tough time finding monsters on the last three days.
There’s also the fact that a lot of parties entered after us. They were hunting monsters that were in their way, but they’re now pretty far away, heading to the outer edges.
They’re looking for treasure.
“Let’s go back.”
We should still make it back today from here. That was the deciding factor in using the shamal horn.
We spend the next day in town, and challenge the boss of the ninth floor the day after that.
There are no people waiting, so we go in right away.
There’s one goblin lord and one orc king, and they’re accompanied by orc generals and ogres, but also all sorts of other things like goblin fighters.
Luckily, the ones that people hate the most, demons, aren’t here.
Chris and I can’t use area of effect magic, so we fight normally.
I hold up my shield and cast Provoke, and Mia and Chris take the monsters out one at a time while I block attacks.
Hikari, Rurika, and Sera, hit-and-run around the orc general, and Argo’s party fights the goblin lord. They also take out the goblins under its command and ogres.
We take them out steadily one at a time, until there’s only the king left. It puts up a brave fight after all its friends are gone, but a back attack from Sera brings it down.
That takes care of the ninth floor, so we’re on to the tenth floor.
