Walking in another world – Chapter 680 – Zuirya dungeon – Part thirty-two

When we enter the boss room, we see one kijin sitting down.

Seiza?

And it has what looks like a sword next to it. I don’t see anything else that might be a weapon, so that must be it. I’m just glad it’s a weapon that’s easy for us to fight.

The kijin’s eyes are closed, but I can see even from here that it has an eye on its forehead. I just can’t tell what magic eyes it has, since Analysis doesn’t work from this far.

There were documents about the magic eyes of the kijin in the boss room. Some things are clear, but there was also all sorts of stuff that just felt like people’s impressions of the monster.

That can’t be helped, people aren’t going to know exact information unless they have Appraisal. In fact, I know what I know because I have what’s in a way the superior version of Appraisal, Analysis.

The first and second eyes have status effects and offensive effects, mostly things other kijin also use.

The third eye seems to do things we don’t know about, but since all that was written was what it felt like to the people at the time, we aren’t sure.

I have to use Analysis.

“We’re going first like we planned.”

That’s partially because of my Analysis, but also because we’re probably the best group when it comes to defense.

“Go for it. And beat it while you’re at it.”

“Yep, leave it to us.”

Says Hikari to what Argo said half jokingly.

“…Don’t overdo it, Hikari.”

“Yes! Life’s important!”

Make sure you remember that.

I’ll go in front, and Hikari will back me up with Projectile Slash.

She doesn’t look too happy about that, but we need to observe its movements first, and then coordinate our attacks.

If we see the monster is too powerful, we’re supposed to stand by.

Once we’re all inside, the door behind us disappears, the kijin opens its eyes, grabs its weapon, and slowly gets up.

That alone is enough to make the air in this room tense.

The kijin is now up, but it doesn’t move from there. It’s just staring at us.

I take a big breath, and exhale.

Standing here is just a waste of time, and that’s something we can’t afford.

I hold up my shield, and slowly walk towards the monster.

Hikari leaves some distance, and follows me. She’s diagonally behind me, cautious of the line of fire.

I take one step towards it, then another, and my heart is pounding.

Then I feel something warm around my body. Mia is supporting me with Holy Magic.

My aggressively beating heart is slowly soothed.

Once I get within Appraisal range, I cast it.

【Name – (—) / Job – (—) / Level – (Limit break) / Race – (Kijin) / Status (—) 】

So its level is limit break. Does that mean it’s over a hundred?

I need to be careful. Well, I intended to in the first place.

Now let’s get into Analysis range.

As I get closer, the kijin slowly holds up its sword, but doesn’t attack.

It’s just watching in a defensive stance.

It’s humanoid, but I really do feel like I’m facing a person.

Then I cast Analysis.

First eye, Drowsiness. Second eye, Shadow. Third eye, Strengthening.

It has three different magic eyes.

Drowsiness just makes people feel sleepy. Like instead of putting people to sleep, it makes them feel drowsy and hurts their focus.

It feels pretty plain, but it can also create fatal openings.

I’ve dealt with it before, so I have the magic items to block it.

That said, since the documents said the first eye was about status conditions, I already have countermeasures. At least against the ones mentioned in the documents or the ones I’ve experienced before.

The issue is the second one.

Shadow is tricky. It means it can move from shadow to shadow, and it can stretch its shadow to perform special attacks. And it can envelop itself in shadows to boost its defense.

If it’s enveloped in shadows, attacks won’t work unless blessed by Mia or performed with swords with the light attribute.

Silver swords can get through shadow walls too, but those might not damage the kijin. That’s an issue with the power of the swords themselves.

Also, what rules does the Shadow magic eye follow?

Can it only use one of its effects at a time? Is it about a time limit instead? Can it use all of its abilities within that time limit?

That will change the difficulty a lot.

If it’s the former, it can’t rapid fire its effects, but the interval between effect activation will be relatively short. If it’s the latter, it will need a longer cooldown after using it.

We have to deal with each in different ways, so we need to find out which type it is.

…I feel like Mia will have her hands full.

Lastly, the Strengthening skill is the same as mine.

It’s very simple, but its abilities vary greatly depending on who’s using it.

It might have a body that’s so tough, swords can’t cut it.

I can’t strengthen mine that far, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility for a kijin with a tough body to begin with.

I’m sure a cheap sword sold in a store won’t damage it even if it’s not using that magic eye.

As I think, I step within the reach of its sword, but I take another step forward.

I yell what Analysis told me, and the kijin doesn’t react at all. Even though I’m in range.

I hide behind my shield, and swing my sword, using Sword Slash to increase its speed.

But I’m blocked, making a metallic sound echo.
