With the help of wind spirit magic, Rurika and Sera are even faster than when they use their own magic energy to boost their physical abilities.
Their speed is overwhelming, and even the kijin is gradually becoming unable to deal with it.
This is when it finally uses the Shadow magic eye, protecting its body with it.
Rurika and Sera’s slashes hit a wall of shadow, but their swords and axes break through like it’s nothing, and keep pressing on the monster.
This is the effect of the blessing on their weapons. However, since their momentum is stopped just a little bit, the kijin manages to evade.
Also, it doesn’t just cast a wall, it keeps making them.
This keeps getting in Rurika and Sera’s way, but stops after about a minute. Does that magic eye have a time limit?
Without the walls to protect it, the kijin’s body is attacked by Rurika and Sera again, and wounds start piling up. But still, it’s mostly just scratches, and they can’t deal fatal damage.
As things stand, if they keep attacking like this, it looks like they might break through the kijin’s defenses eventually, but we know they won’t.
There are two reasons.
First, fighting with the power of wind spirits puts a great toll on the user’s body. In a way, it’s like they’re pushing beyond their limits.
They can handle it because Rurika is used to Gale, and Sera pairs up with her a lot.
Second, it’s hard to control, and just using it saps the caster’s magic energy and concentration. That means it shouldn’t be used for very long.
I can see big beads of sweat on Chris’ forehead.
“Hikari, go.”
I yell, and Hikari holds up her dagger while nodding.
“Big sister!”
She yells, and swings her dagger, releasing a wind blade.
Both Rurika and Sera step away from the kijin, so the Projectile Slash doesn’t hit them.
I run after the Projectile Slash, and swing my sword as the kijin swings at the wind blade.
It blocks me as it swings its sword back, but Hikari slashes it from behind.
The kijin shifts its position a little to evade, dodging as it always does, but I think Hikari is aware of that by now, so she immediately connects it to her next attack.
She keeps attacking with her physical abilities boosted with magic energy, and I can see the kijin’s wounds healing.
But I don’t get flustered, and just keep attacking.
This isn’t a desperate situation. The kijin looks unharmed, but we’ve scratched it a few times.
The wounds soon heal, but I can tell the kijin isn’t taking it easy like it was at the start. I can feel this is working.
If it isn’t acting, of course. But we keep attacking straightforwardly.
As a result, I can see it uses the Drowsiness and Shadow magic eyes one at a time.
Again, Shadow forms walls, and the effect runs out after one minute.
Rick’s group takes over after us, and then Argo’s.
It’s during Argo’s fight that the kijin uses its final magic eye, Strengthening.
◇ ◇ ◇
The Strengthening magic eye seems to do the same as my skill, strengthening the kijin’s body.
It’s using that because Argo managed to hit it with a deep slash.
I don’t think Argo is boosting his physical abilities with magic energy, or using the power of spirits or anything like that. My Magic Energy Detection doesn’t pick up on any unusual magic energy in him. And yet, he managed to slash him.
Maybe it’s just that we haven’t been able to really catch the kijin, and once hit, this is what happens, but I’m not sure.
What I do know is that Argo’s sword is cornering the kijin.
Once it uses Strengthening, its boosted speed means Argo fails to hit him, but ten minutes later, he starts to hit him again.
But the hit doesn’t deal damage. I’m pretty sure it bounced off.
This tells me that Strengthening is still in effect, and the kijin’s speed hasn’t actually gone down. And Argo managed to hit him despite the kijin being faster than before because he can keep up with it.
“Wow.”
Whispers Rurika, and I keep my eyes on Argo.
It doesn’t feel like there was any big change in his moves, and yet, he just hit him again.
The first and second hits bounce off, but the third draws blood.
So now he’s not only keeping up with it, but damaging it too.
What’s going on? As far as I can tell, Strengthening is still active. In fact, this magic eye’s effect is lasting for a long time.
Is it because it’s a boss?
Then I notice the kijin’s moves getting duller, and Argo lands a solid hit.
Five minutes after Strengthening wears off, the kijin uses Shadow to withstand Argo’s attacks, but it’s eventually unable to produce more shadow walls, and falls to Argo’s sword without being able to fight back against it.

Thanks for the treat.
