Walking in another world – Chapter 684 – Dungeon complete?

We’re all taken aback by the sudden ending, when Rick opens his mouth and speaks slowly.

“He’s always like that. When the time comes, he steps up to the challenge. That’s why we can count on him.”

He’s talking about Argo.

I don’t think Argo has particularly strong skills, but he’s taken down several high rank monsters.

Rick also says that it was thanks to him that they made it to the seventh floor back when they were basically newbies.

“He has good eyes, and you might not think it, but he works hard.”

“True. People just don’t know it because he doesn’t do it in front of others.”

Clift adds to what Rick said. It’s rare to hear them praising Argo.

From what I’m hearing, Argo has a great ability to learn and adapt. He reads his opponent’s moves, and can see and take advantage of weak points.

It sounds a lot like my Memory skill, but he can’t do it right away, it takes some time.

“Could he have won that tournament if he had the time to prepare?”

It feels like he might’ve beaten the beast king.

“There’s always an issue of compatibility. He has a hard time against opponents that grow through fighting.”

I can see that. The beast king tests different things while fighting, so it would be hard to deal with him.

The fact that he got to observe his opponent’s moves during this fight played a big role.

“Did you also fight with that in mind?”

I ask, and while they just keep a vague smile on their faces, they don’t deny it either.

And I’m guessing it took this long because that kijin boss really was strong.

“Let’s go, Argo is waiting.”

Says Rick, and when I turn to Argo, I see a treasure chest appearing where the kijin fell.

He’s not opening it because it might have a trap, or I guess he feels like opening them is Hikari’s job.

I get closer and cast Appraisal, but it doesn’t seem to have a trap.

Also, when the monster went down, it dropped a magic stone. Being the boss means it’s bigger than the ones dropped by other kijin here on the tenth floor, but its different shine tells me it’s of higher quality too.

Hikari slowly opens the treasure chest, as everyone watches.

There are what appear to be numerous accessories inside. Rings and bracelets.

They all look simple at a glance, but there’s elaborate workmanship put into them. And of course, they’re all magic items.

“Sora, can you tell their effects?”

Asks Argo, and I nod.

They all have the abilities worthy of being the reward for taking down the boss of the final floor.

Not all can be used by everyone, but I feel like if they were sold at an auction, each could allow for their former owners to have a comfortable life.

‘Magic ring’ can store items, and it prevents their deterioration.

This is like a bracelet shaped magic bag. It can’t store a lot, but… Being able to preserve items, and especially food as it is means everyone who moves around a lot like adventurers and merchants would want it.

It’s hard to preserve the freshness of ingredients and cooked food.

I think it’s good that it’s a bracelet too, because if it really was a ring, it might get in the way when people were using weapons.

‘Scapegoat ring’ is an item that takes fatal damage instead of the user.

This fatal damage can be from things other than physical attacks. Apparently it will work even if the death is from something like poison.

Apparently the gem on the ring breaks upon use, but it looks like it’s a magic stone, so it can be used again if it’s replaced.

But it has to be a particularly high quality magic stone, even among high quality magic stones, so it would cost a lot. One from a goblin or a wolf won’t activate the effect.

It’s the kind of item an influential person would want.

‘Sorcery bracelet’ is a bracelet that can store magic energy, and boosts magic energy recovery.

This is the kind of item a sorcerer would want. Veterans can tell the limits of their magic energy, but adventurers never know what they might face, so this is a nice thing to have.

I also think it would be good for alchemists. Having more magic energy could raise their daily production.

‘Skill ring’ records skills and allows them to be used.

It can store up to three, and their power depends on the user.

However, it can’t use them in succession, and it’s restricted to once per day. That doesn’t mean the cooldown is twenty-four hours, it resets when the sun rises.

Also, it looks like there are skills it can’t register.

This is the sort of thing you have to test to find out, but apparently once a skill is registered, it can’t be taken off for a few days. But Analysis doesn’t give me more details.

I explain the items from the treasure chest, and Argo crosses his arms like he’s pondering something.

That makes sense. He probably wants the scapegoat ring, but they need to discuss it.

“…How about we leave the dungeon first?”

It’s best to discuss it calmly in the inn. Not to mention that we’re all tired from fighting for a long time.

We go through the door that appeared with the treasure chest, and since it’s on the final floor, something should happen when we go through it.

The others know it too, and I give them a small nod.

When we go through the door… We find ourselves on the surface.
