Walking in another world – Chapter 712 – Mithril golem – Part three

I don’t sense a magic energy reaction from the mithril golem on the ground.

Where its magic energy was strongest, on its back, there’s a gaping hole.

“Young lady, that’s…”

Herc has his eyes wide open, and he can’t finish his sentence.

Mia is behind the mithril golem, with ears on top of her head and a tail coming from below her skirt.

She starts breathing heavily and leans on her spear, and the ears and tail disappear. The beast person transformation was undone.

“Hum, this is a skill I got in a dungeon. It allows me to temporarily turn into a beast person.”

“I-I see.”

Herc seems to accept Mia’s explanation. It’s actually not false.

She most likely said this so he wouldn’t pry into it later.

“Sora, can you put that away?”

She says, because if the mithril golem is left there, it will disappear.

Normally we would just collect it, but the dwarves fought with us.

“That thing’s yours. We couldn’t have beaten it.”

Says Herc before I start talking. But he keeps peeking over at the mithril golem like he’s really interested.

This is high quality mithril, strengthened with magic energy.

“How about we talk about it after we get back? We don’t need everything to make our weapons, and I’d appreciate it if I could trade for what we need.”

I want that powered up shield that blocked Chris’ magic, and if I could have a leg, that should be enough to make weapons for everyone.

“H-hm.”

Herc is bewildered, but nods. Did he not expect us to share it?

Anyway, I put the mithril golem in the Item Box.

“So what are you two going to do?”

“The threat of the mithril golem is gone, so we’re gonna mine like we planned… Can we mine near here?”

“Sure. There’s no one else around.”

No one in my party objects. It’s not like they need permission anyway. Are they just being considerate?

Anyway, with the intense battle over, we decide to take a break. And so do the dwarves.

“Should we go call them later?”

“No, I’ve contacted them, and they’re on their way.”

Herc looks at the dwarf that fought with him, and he nods. They probably have a magic item they can use to communicate.

I check Map, and see fifteen reactions heading this way. But they’re pretty far, so it will take some time.

That means they had to run a lot.

After plenty of rest, we start mining. And by we, I mean me and the two dwarves.

The noise filling the mine is louder than usual, and it continues until it’s time for dinner.

◇ ◇ ◇

“Sora, can we see the mithril golem?”

Asks Herc after we’re done eating. The other dwarf also looks interested.

I lay it out, and after thanking me, they start studying the quality of the mithril.

“Can I keep mining?”

I ask the others while watching the dwarves.

“I think it’s fine. You want to mine some more mithril, right?”

“Yes. It’d be a waste to deliver mithril from that golem to advance to the next floor.”

After negotiating with the dwarves, we have what we need to advance to the third floor, so we could call it here.

But while we’re at it, I might as well mine some more.

I cast Appraisal, and I know there’s something here. The second floor doesn’t just have ore, it has jewels too.

After looking into the mithril golem, the dwarves are excited.

They say they’ve never seen something of this quality, and can’t wait to use it.

Their intensity is overwhelming. I’ve learned how to smith too, but I can’t match this enthusiasm.

“So Herc, about keeping watch…”

Once they settle down, it’s time to discuss the order.

“You don’t mine at night?”

“We don’t. We don’t have the numbers anyway, and it’d just be annoying.”

It’s possible to block sound, but that’s dangerous in itself.

“Yes, it would be hard with this few people.”

The dwarves aren’t bothered by the noise because it’s the same in the blacksmith as it is in a mine.

After taking turns keeping watch, we start mining again in the morning, and the people of Ale and Ironhammer arrive.

They came here as fast as possible, so they got here before we expected, but they take the day off to rest.

Even if they knew their friends were all right, they wanted to confirm it as soon as possible.

Herc says a blacksmith that can’t manage his stamina is a failure, but he looks a little happy.

Still, if they were in such a hurry that they got here exhausted, and it still took them more than half a day, it’s really impressive how Herc and the other dwarf had the stamina to bring the mithril golem here.

We spend the next week mining, and then leave the dungeon with the dwarves.

They would normally not leave the dungeon so soon after going in, but threw that rule out the window because they’re curious about the mithril.

And after leaving the dungeon, we… Specifically, me and the rest of my party, are arrested by the guild and taken to a cell.

Thanks for this weeks updates, & have a good weekend. 😎👍
So they got arrested, so either the village got wiped out or they lost a lot of lives looking for the hunter that got told it was safe, could see this coming from the last party not doing their job and having an all day drinking session instead.
