Walking in another world – Chapter 734 – Intermission – The day it was born

There were footsteps, as if something was running. Running through a dim town.

Other beings that appeared to be running gathered, as it advanced ever forward as if racing.

Something stood in its way, and it accelerated further as it was swallowed.

It arrived at some stairs, and after going up, it was in another town. The difference was the sky, which was brighter than where they were before.

Light was poison, but the dim shadows meant it did not suffer much of a burden.

After looking around, it heard noises, where its friends fought something.

Something similar to the one that blocked its way before stood on a well. When it looked at it, its instincts screamed.

Kill, kill, kill! Destroy everything!

Its body obeyed. It held a weapon, and it saw its white body in its blade.

It raised its blade, but it was dodged.

The one in front of it tried to counterattack, but its friends swarmed it… It let out a sound and it went down.

It fell to the ground motionless, staining it red.

Watching it made its strength well up, and it moved out again.

It attacked each and every enemy that blocked its path, and the same happened.

On the seventh time, the friends around it fell. Their bodies crushed, they rolled on the ground.

But it advanced nonetheless. It swung its sword, but was repelled and attacked.

The hand holding the sword was crushed, and an even stronger impact followed.

The impact pushed it back, and it was blown into rolling on the ground.

There was no pain, but its body did not move how it wanted.

It tried to get up, but more friends went down.

Strong.

Looking at its face, its eyes pierced it.

It approached it with a twisted mouth.

It was a countdown to disappearing. Once it got there, it was all over.

It was not afraid. The destructive impulses were stronger.

Frustration over not killing its opponent dominated it. And so, it struggled to vomit it out. It looked for a weapon with its remaining arm.

It touched something, and when it turned to look, it saw a club. No, a staff.

It got up with it in hand, and attacked the enemy ahead.

Its balance was bad with only one arm. Still, it swung down… And was easily dodged.

Worse yet, it tripped on the outstretched foot of its enemy, losing its balance and ending up rolling on the ground again.

Its downed body was stepped on, making creaking sounds.

It did not feel pain, but at that rate, it would be broken and rendered motionless.

It desperately tried to run, but its body would not budge.

Was this the end…

It yelled at its own uselessness. Why was it so weak, it asked.

When it thought that, the weight on its back was gone.

It moved its now free body, and saw its enemy fighting friends that had ran there

Upon seeing that, it clenched its fist and ran.

If it was dominated by emotions and fought haphazardly, it would lose. It knew that, so it moved away.

It had to become stronger.

But how?

First, it had to survive. With that decision made, the impulse to kill was gone.

Even when it saw enemies, the voice that told it to kill was no more.

After that, it ran away even as it saw people panicking and friends fighting.

There were no more houses around it, as it jumped into the forest.

But the troubles continued.

As the world became brighter, it felt worse, and had trouble moving.

Because of that, it hid until it was dark, and thought about how to become strong.

In bright times, in dark times, it was always conscious, so it had plenty of time to think.

After asking itself, it remembered one experience. When an enemy stopped moving, it felt just a little power entering its body.

The same happened after it killed another.

Killing made it stronger?

It prepared to answer that question. To kill a small green-skinned thing it saw days before.

◇ ◇ ◇

The small thing appeared.

It looked around, and slowly approached me.

It looked at me and tilted its head, and its eyes shined when it looked at my left hand.

I was holding a staff. It looked at it like it was treasure.

It let out a small yell and reached towards it.

Its eyes only saw the staff.

I waited for a chance.

………………

…………

……

The time came!

The moment the small thing grabbed the staff, I moved my broken right arm.

My broken arm had a pointed tip, and I stabbed the small thing in the neck.

Blood came out of its mouth and it fell before it even knew what happened.

When the blood landed on me, I felt an intense pain.

It was like my body was being torn apart. It continued for three bright days, until I lost consciousness.
