Walking in another world – Chapter 740 – Avid dungeon – Part ten

We’ve been on the third floor for three days. We didn’t go through it all, but we’re done checking the water level changes, and fought monsters.

We fought sahagin, jumping bloopers, and water slime.

Sahagin are mermen monsters that are about as strong as a cross between goblins and orcs. They’re not that strong, but there are a lot of them. Still, since they only fight up close, they’re not that hard to deal with. It would’ve been a lot worse if they used magic.

And it’s possible to fight them away from water by waiting for them on land.

Jumping bloopers are jellyfish monsters, so they don’t move at all on land, but they turn transparent when they leave the water, rendering them invisible.

People have to be careful, because they explode if someone accidentally steps on them. But since they don’t pick targets, it can happen to sahagin.

It’s impossible to get magic stones from them if they explode, so we have to take them down without letting them self-destruct.

That means using magic, but it’s easy since I can see their reactions on Map. Also, if they’re underwater, they attack with electric discharges.

Lastly we have the water slime, a small monster that enlarges itself a lot when it finds an enemy.

They jump on people in that enlarged state to suffocate them inside their big bodies.

They can be defeated by destroying their magic stones, fire magic attacks, or ripping the membrane that forms their bodies from the inside after being engulfed.

Knowing this beforehand means there’s no confusion.

And us? Suffice to say, we know all that, and we can deal with them.

That said, it’s hard to avoid being flustered when someone is swallowed by a slime. Especially the people watching outside.

It’s fine because they just suffocate people. They would be more threatening if they melted people after swallowing them.

“So Sora, is this new?”

“Yes. Can you try them on?”

I say to Mia.

I made boots using sahagin and jumping blooper materials.

These boots reach until just under the knees, and they’re both waterproof and electric shock resistant. They will allow us to move freely in shallow water.

Also, if we do step on a jumping blooper, the explosion won’t damage us.

“In a way, this might be the best for us.”

Argo and the others nod when they hear about that last part.

After checking how comfortable they are, I do minor adjustments, and they’re done.

“If we’re thinking about efficiency, how about we split up?”

“…Can’t we just stay how we are? We’re fighting these monsters for the first time, and they clump together when there are a lot.”

“Aren’t you just saying that because you want to stay with the girls?”

Says Argo, teasing me.

It’s true, if we split up, I’d be going with their party, because there are monsters here that need to be taken down with magic.

Argo’s party specializes in physical attacks, so I’d fit in perfectly with my magic and healing.

“Argo, don’t say nonsense and take this seriously. We’re not playing here.”

Says Guilford with a sigh, but he knows Argo was just playing.

“Let’s finish the monsters nearby. I think we’ll be fighting reapers and frostgators next.”

Before, I could tell there were monsters thanks to Map, but now I can use the Farsight skill to see what those monsters are.

I can more or less tell by the strength of their magic energy after fighting them, but these are new monsters to me.

There weren’t any illustrations in the documents, but I can tell what they are by using Appraisal.

With the Farsight skill, I can appraise monsters that are far away.

Reapers are fish with wings that can fly for a short time.

Their fangs are very sharp. The documents mentioned that being bit by them is dangerous. They can also use ultrasonic attacks that are impossible to dodge. But sonic attacks are actually possible to dodge, since they are limited to a straight line and have a short range.

Frostgators are crab monsters that use water magic.

They cover their bodies with ice to block attacks, and hinder movement by freezing the ground.

Also, they are capable of agile movements with their bodies covered in ice.

They can use a variety of magic attacks, but are also strong up close. Their bite can crush even iron.

“It feels like an enemy best taken down from afar.”

“We’ll leave it to you, Hikari.”

Says Rurika, and Hikari takes out her dagger. She can attack from afar with Projectile Slash.

“Reapers can fly, but are incapable of sharp turns. If you pay close attention to their moves, it’s possible to dodge them even if they get close. And counter them.”

“Then if we’re fighting both at the same time, we’ll handle reapers, and you can deal with frostgators from a distance.

Says Argo in response to my explanation, and his party nods.

With our roles settled, we move out to hunt reapers and frostgators.
