“Big… Brother…”
The dream was vague after her brother’s death.
She faintly remembered the soldiers focusing on the monster that appeared in the prison, and Ina advancing through an escape route that had become deserted.
The few survival instincts that remained inside her led her to move unconsciously, as she used what was left of her stamina to stagger her way out. Coincidentally, there were no guards along the way, and she was able to miraculously get away.
She just barely missed her brother, who had turned into pure hate, slaughtering the fiends of the Truly Wonderful Fair Skies Church, and sobbed outside.
Eventually, the tears turned into hatred of humans.
The dream she had of one day opening a place that would deliver tasty things to people vanished into bubbles.
“…They’re probably… Using us as fertilizer… To eat well…”
The wounds she suffered from torture had not healed at all, but before she knew it, she had wandered into the Sandbox domain.
And then, she saw a white-haired boy walking around at night, who seemed to be the same age as her. She could tell right away he had a high social position.
“Ahh… Ahh…”
With bloodshot eyes, she breathed and exhaled hatred.
She wanted to rip apart even just one of those humans feeling ‘tasty’, and drag out money and food from them.
After being cornered so far, her face had not a speck of ‘tasty’.
“You, people… Took all… Everything!!”
Ina was fed up with having everything taken away from her. Her heart was dominated by extreme emotions, and she pointed a knife at the boy, that she did not even remember picking up.
“Give me your money! And your food!! Everything you have!! This time… I’m the one taking…!!”
She was thin and small, and gripping the knife so hard to the point of drawing blood.
On the other side of the rusty knife, the boy broke out into a cold sweat. When a little bit of doubt emerged in her heart, she remembered the joy in the faces of the people who beheaded her brother.
She would not hesitate anymore. She gave her heart to her instincts.
“Give… Ah…”
But what little stamina carried her from the cage, gave out at this point. She staggered, and fell on the ground.
The boy rushed towards her, as boots approached her at her eye level.
She resigned herself to either death or torture, and closed her eyes.
“You’re so badly wounded… Hey, are you all right!? Hey! Hey!!”
But not only did he not hurt her, he held her.
She felt terribly comfortable in his arms. It was gentle enough that she hesitated to scratch him.
It made sense. His eyes looked completely different from how humans normally looked at her. The boy was genuinely worried about her.
“What are you…”
Ina would never forget the name she heard next.
“…My name is Qualia. And you? Wait, hey! Hey!!”
That was the weak, but kind boy named Qualia, before an artificial intelligence was installed in him,
And when he picked up a cat on the street.
