Walking in another world – Chapter 759 – Making defensive equipment – Part one

By the time we reach Guilford’s team, the tartaruga is already down.

They said they flipped it over with Chris’ spirit magic. That makes me wonder if magic works if it’s spirit magic, but apparently she didn’t use it against it. Instead, she used something like earth walls to push its body upward from the ground.

My first thought is that she’s skillful. She placed the magic there remotely, and the others guided it there.

“But lifting that thing by hand…”

He says with an awkward smile, but wasn’t that the plan?

“Well, Chris said she wanted to try it, and lifting it really is hard. Especially when we’re split into two groups.”

Yes, their party was split.

We balanced it based on the possibility of me not being able to do anything due lack of magic energy after bringing the two monsters.

But now we know I can Transfer tartarugas, and that Chris can flip them over with spirit magic, so we have a plan… You could say.

But this is only valid for our party.

“What about the other tartarugas, Sora?”

“…They’re already in the lake.”

Unfortunately, there isn’t a single one left on the surface. It’s not like they leave the lake of their own volition anyway.

“How about we stop the hunt here for today?”

“That was a series of battles, so we should rest.”

I look at Chris while responding to Argo.

She skillfully used her spirit magic, but using it in a different way than usual took more out of her.

“Well, let’s rest and discuss what to do tomorrow. But do we need to drain blood and take them apart first?”

Hikari reacts to Argo’s words. Doing it in the dungeon is better than outside, because the tartarugas take up so much space.

We could ask the guild to do it, but while we’re not short on money, we tend to do it when we can.

We also need magic stones, but the biggest reason why we do it is that there was a time when it used to be hard for us.

Hikari’s group starts taking them apart, and Mia’s starts cooking.

I’m on neither because I want to try making something.

I take tartaruga shells from the Item Box. They’ve been cut to about a meter in length.

They’re hard, but once taken apart, their magic resistance is gone. It’s just a magic energy barrier created by infusing magic energy.

It would be easiest to make a shield out of this, but that’s surprisingly hard when you’re not used to using a shield.

Also, this shell’s toughness comes with considerable weight. I can hold it, but I’d lose speed.

I consider changing its shape with Alchemy, but it’s no good.

Then I try doing it with magic energy, but it’s all absorbed and converted into a barrier.

Next I think about making an item with Creation. I check the list, and it feels like it will work.

I need tartaruga shell, other materials, and magic stones. From this list, for example, if I want to make a shield, I need ore. If I want a robe, I need monster fur.

I can’t use an already made shield. I thought I might with Creation, but no.

When Creation makes an item, the assortment of materials changes quality and… direction?

For example, ore with the fire element makes fire stronger.

When specialized, they possess great defense against said element, but become weaker against others.

Apparently it’s not possible to make it block all magic like the tartaruga. Well, I could if I had the materials, but it would also demand more magic energy. People like me and Chris could use it, but Hikari, Sera, and Rurika couldn’t.

It would also be possible to infuse a very large amount of magic energy for defense, leaving little for attack, but I think that would be just for defensive specialists.

But I wouldn’t know exactly until I made it and used it.

I close the Creation list, and check the Item Box. I think something like a robe would be better than a shield.

As for shields, I think bracelets would do, but apparently they use more magic energy the smaller they are.

Let’s do a few experiments. I won’t know how it makes a magic energy barrier or how the magic energy is depleted without testing.

I’ll have to make some equipment and test it out.

I can collect a few tartaruga shells from around here, so I have plenty of room to work with. Although a regular person might call this a luxury.
