Walking in another world – Chapter 760 – Making defensive equipment – Part two

I make two test items with Creation, a bracelet with iron ore, and a robe with wolf fur.

Once the user is registered, Magic Energy Control isn’t necessary, they automatically absorb magic energy.

An auto feature is useful, but apparently they keep doing it until there’s no more magic energy left. This is too dangerous.

I try to modify them, and apparently the problem is the materials. Appraisal shows me they’re too low quality.

Let’s use something else then.

First, ore. The iron and steel ore I used is too low quality. By combining iron and steel ore and magic ore through Alchemy, I get magic steel ore. With this, the quality is normal and the bracelet is done.

I use Analysis on it, and the auto feature is still there, but it shows that it’s forced off once eighty percent of the magic energy is gone.

Then I realize that it’s still just as dangerous as the other, but apparently the one that has normal quality vibrates when magic energy is running out.

And I guess the user can then take refuge and drink a mana potion?

Single shot spells like Fire Arrow explode and disappear on impact, so I assume this is about area of effect spells.

From that point of view, I guess the low quality one could be useful for blocking single shot spells, but apparently the quality also affects the magic energy efficiency a lot.

However, it’d be bad if the opponent fired wildly, and there’s still the risk of running out of magic energy if you don’t have a lot.

And if someone doesn’t know how to use this, it’s an accident waiting to happen.

Apparently the guild has a special magic item to study that sort of thing, but still.

I want to test this out, but it looks like Chris is still busy.

“Let’s try making a normal quality robe…”

I just have to use fur or skin from a better monster.

Should I try making a specialized robe next? This displays an effect when the hunted monster comes off clearly.

Also, it’s effective not only against magic, but also attacks like breath. But it comes with a warning that this only applies to breath attacks that use magic energy.

Most of the monsters that use magic energy to unleash breaths are high rank, and the weaker ones that use it don’t carry magic energy. Of course, this means the breath is also weak.

My work is then interrupted for an hour, because it’s time to eat.

“Did you finish the magic items, Sora?”

Asks Chris as we relax after finishing our meal.

I was working close to Mia and the others who were cooking, so they were probably curious. I could feel eyes on me sometimes.

And when Chris speaks, everyone’s attention gathers.

“I made a few, but I’m a bit iffy about who should use them and where.”

I explain the effects, and Chris looks interested, but the others look exasperated.

Ah, Hikari’s expression hasn’t changed. She seems more preoccupied with something. Is it about whether or not to take apart monsters?

Turns out it is, and she goes back to working on that after saying something.

She should probably rest soon, but let’s let her do it until she reaches a good stopping point.

Argo’s party goes with her, except Guilford.

“Listen to Sora and explain it to us later.”

Is what they say before leaving.

…Is my explanation hard to understand?

Well, I guess it is.

“Well that turned into a pain. More importantly, don’t be picky about where to use it. Although a dungeon might be right for it.”

Guilford comforts me. And I think he’s right, we know what monsters will appear on what floors in a dungeon.

They’re easier to use in dungeons because we can equip them as a countermeasure. Especially in a tower type like in Fors.

Would water magic type equipment do well here? But I can’t tell Argo and the others things are poor quality, so I’d have to make good quality ones.

It’d be nice if I could use magic energy instead of magic stones, but I can’t.

“I don’t have to make new equipment now, so there’s no rush. It’s different if we’re fighting something like a hydra, but I don’t think we’re going to use something that blocks all attributes.”

I can make something like that, but like Guilford said, it would take an immense amount of magic energy.

Chris and I could use it, maybe Mia. And as I’m explaining to the others, I’m only talking about what’s possible, I haven’t actually tested what the equipment can do.

It’d be dangerous to test it out in actual combat, so I want to see if they can block Chris’ magic and magic infused throwing weapons.

If I use barrier magic, they won’t cause damage even if they get through the magic item’s barrier.
