“Ou, Sora. That was incredible yesterday. If we don’t misuse it, we might be able to use it too, but how was it in reality?”
Asks Argo shortly after I wake up.
Yesterday we had dinner after the ones taking monsters apart came back, and then I did a little check.
First, I checked how the barrier was formed when Chris attacked with magic, and how magic energy was drained.
The barrier reacted to the magic and activated on its own. Chris adjusted the power of single target spells, but we learned it doesn’t matter, and it drains the same amount of magic energy regardless of whether the spell is weak or strong.
As for area of effect magic, the barrier is active as long as the magic is being maintained. But since it’s dispelled when MP falls below half, the best use of this barrier is to protect from the area of effect spell while moving out of that area.
The tartarugas nullified magic, but this magic item doesn’tW.
Yes, there’s a lot I won’t know until we actually use it.
With that in mind, can people with a low magic energy capacity use it? The quality of the magic items changes how much MP is drained, so I should make ones of good quality.
I want to test some things with people other than me, but that comes with danger, and without precise numerical data, we won’t know the difference for sure.
No one else can call a status screen and see their MP.
Then something comes to mind. I have a skill that boosts my stats, but what I want is one that lowers… Here.

Now I can lower my stats.
I just learned it, but I can only lower it by ten. This won’t make a dent in my over a thousand stat points.
I think I can lower them further if the skill levels up, but… I figured this skill was about quality over quantity, but I can’t even use it in succession.
Well, I can, but if I use it during that delay, the effect won’t show. But it spends SP anyway.
I don’t think I can check it right now.
“What is next, Sora?”
Asks Chris as I go quiet to think.
“I want to test what it does to throwing knives infused with magic energy.”
And so, Hikari throws a knife to test, and it’s blocked by the barrier before the infused magic can activate.
So if it reacted before the explosion, does that mean it reacts to magic energy and not the spell?
I have Hikari throw a knife infused with magic energy but not a spell, but the barrier doesn’t react.
I see. If it did react, the barrier would’ve activated when I attacked a tartaruga.
That concludes the throwing weapons test, and we’re resting today.
There aren’t any monsters around us, but we take turns keeping watch.
We split into three groups, and since I’m in the second, I should rest, but I want to raise skill proficiency first.
I use the Weakening skill again, and it spends ten SP, so I use it seventy times.
I don’t go under half thanks to Natural Recovery Boost, but I stop there. If lack of sleep gets in the way of me keeping watch, it will bother everyone.
When it’s time to rest again after keeping watch, I see I have full SP again, but I go to sleep instead of raising proficiency.
Still, the skill has leveled up and proficiency is close to eighty percent.
It’s all thanks to my abundant SP and Natural Recovery Boost.
“Yes. If I wait a little longer, I’ll be done with testing, and I think we’ll know if you and your party can use them. Do you want to try equipping it and blocking magic?”
I ask Argo the next morning, because he has questions about the equipment.
“…I don’t think so. I trust you and all, but I don’t want to run out of magic energy. I heard from a mage I know that it’s pretty rough.”
I don’t think that’s a problem if the item isn’t poor quality, but I also don’t know how long the barrier would hold.
“I wouldn’t choose to be like that either. It is rough.”
I say after he asks what it’s like.
I’ve felt sick multiple times because I pushed my magic energy to the limit.
I guess he heard about it from someone else.
“Then you test it, Sora, and we’ll use it when you have one even we can use.”
He says before walking towards the others.
