“I’m glad Ryuuga is awake!”
“Thank you. And I’m glad Yuugo came back safely, Phi.”
…Some days had passed since the battle with Zaraki.
Things were a little hectic in the academy, but stayed relatively peaceful, to the point where one would never guess such a big incident happened.
The fact that Raiha’s secret and the plan to send the combat miko back were not disclosed to the public helped.
The students might have learned about Koumaru’s betrayal and Zaraki’s activities, but not how it related to the academy.
Of course, Yuugo and the others’ efforts behind this incident were also not known.
“I was worried for a moment… but I’m glad everyone is all right.”
“Yes. That says it all.”
Phi and Yui went to the hospital to visit their brothers.
Marcos, Melt, Angel, and the combat miko received relatively light injuries, so they were discharged the day after the battle, but not Yuugo and Ryuuga.
They were not in critical condition despite straining themselves so far, but their examination showed they had to stay in the hospital to receive proper treatment, so they were currently absent from school.
Phi and Yui both talked about the endless worries that came with having a brother who did not think about consequences, and smiled awkwardly.
They entered the hospital room, and saw Marcos and the others were already there, along with Jinba. Yuugo noticed them and waved brightly.
“Oh! Phi and Yui! Thanks for coming!”
“Are you okay, big brother?”
“Yeah! I’m all better! The doctor said I’m pretty much all healed too, so I should be leaving soon!”
“Really!? That’s great…!!”
Yuugo was covered in bandages right after entering the hospital, but that was not the case at this point.
Phi was happy to see it, and Ryuuga spoke from the other bed.
“What’s with your recovery power? The doctor said you heal almost twice as fast as a regular person.”
“And aren’t you a lot tougher than most? The doctor said that too.”
Ryuuga was still covered in bandages and gauze, but seemed healthy enough to speak normally.
Too tough, abnormal healing ability… Melt and the others said they were both far from normal.
“Anyway, it’s great that everyone came back safe~! It really was a terrible battle~!”
“Yes, we could have very well lost someone. You call it a miracle that we’re all still here.”
“Ahh…! We did not rely on a miracle or fate, it was because we all worked together.”
“Ooh, that’s pretty cheesy. Is Yuugo influencing you?”
Bright laughter echoed in the room.
Then Jinba, the representative of the guards, who they all knew pretty well, spoke.
“First, I want to thank you. It was your cooperation that led to Zaraki being defeated and harm being kept to a minimum. Thank you so much.”
“It’s okay. But what about Koumaru? He ran away through a different route…”
“…I’m sorry, we completely lost sight of him. Guards and personnel from Yamato are currently doing their best to chase him.”
“I figured…”
Koumaru split up from Zaraki, using him as bait to escape, and was still at large.
Ryuuga figured that would happen, and his expression tensed when he understood that his tie to his father’s killer was still not broken.
In this somewhat tense atmosphere, Jinba apologized for something else.
“Also, I apologize for being unable to reveal what happened that day. It is as though your achievements never happened. I’m really sorry…”
“Don’t worry about that. We didn’t do it for renown or achievements in the first place.”
“Fufu…! Yes. That’s the kind of people you are.”
As always, as expected, the information about this case would not be made public, said Jinba, but Yuugo was indifferent.
They fought Zaraki to save Raiha, so they did not want praise. And as Jinba smiled at their response, Phi spoke.
“By the way big brother, did you hear?”
“Hn? About what?”
Said a confused Yuugo, and his little brother continued.
“Claire and Zenon are taking a temporary leave from the academy to travel together.”
