“Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! Nothing goes right! That damn Zenon won’t get away with this…!!”
After the turmoil in the hospital, Egos managed to shake off Zenon, and mumbled his hatred in a forest with no one else.
He left Luminous Academy and received a game over message, and when he tried to get revenge, Zenon, a fellow reincarnated person, stopped him… Nothing was going according to his wishes.
He was supposed to have a happy life as a main character, but he was expelled from the academy, and was on the run after escaping the law… It was the opposite of what Egos wanted, and he wailed at this sudden sadness.
“How did this happen…? I escaped that crappy life and should be happy now…!”
Back when he lived as Egoshi Kirio, his life was the classic black company worker’s, that drained his spirit.
It was reading web novels and playing games that provided him with the little joy he had, and he felt great when he reincarnated in the world of Luminous Academy, a game he played a lot.
People loved him and respected him like he was the main character he used to control, and he led a happy life.
There were no horrible bosses or dead-eyed coworkers, it was the best life… He believed.
“So how did it come to this…!? I’m… I’m the main character!”
The central character of the game.
The center of the world, the most important being in it. There should be a clear line drawn between him and the other characters.
So why was he being treated as lower than a background character? Why must he feel so miserable?
Where did his happy life go?
“Everything, everything… is Yuugo’s fault. If that scum didn’t do anything…!!”
He got in his way during the cooking club event, created the catalyst for his expulsion, led to him being arrested by guards… It was all Yuugo.
If it wasn’t for Yuugo, he would have a happy school life surrounded by heroines. Living a happy life.
He could not be forgiven… Egos clenched his fists tight, thinking his misfortune was all because of Yuugo.
Somehow, he would get revenge and lead him to a path of destruction… Was what he was thinking.
“You… What are you doing…!?”
“Eh…!?”
Egos raised his head, surprised by the sudden echoing voice, and saw a person with a black hood… Lost.
Egos was facing Lost for the first time, and the sudden encounter surprised him and caused him to take a stance of caution.
“Who are you? Where did you…?”
“Do you understand what you did? Trying to put your hands on him even though you already got a game over…!!”
Lost acted as if Egos’ questions fell on deaf ears.
Conversely, Egos heard the words game over, and his surprise intensified.
“How do you know…!? Did you reincarnate like me!?”
“Stop mumbling, trash. You came close to ruining the greatest drama.”
Lost’s voice carried incredible anger.
Said anger intensified with each word, leaving Egos speechless as Lost continued to lay that hatred bare.
“My hero’s ending has to be dramatic! A dramatic bad end where he falls to an extremely powerful enemy! A happy end where all obstacles are destroyed! An ending that surpasses both!! He can show me that!
Yuugo Kurei is an outstanding talent! And you…! This isn’t a story for scum like you to just end. His life and yours don’t have the same worth…!”
“What are you talking about… What do you mean…!?”
Lost’s confused brain did not understand any of what Lost said.
He just barely understood that Lost was not like him, as Lost continued speaking coldly.
“You don’t have to understand anything. You’re dying here. A miserable end, unknown to anyone.”
“W-what!?”
A few axes fell around Egos as Lost declared Egos’ end.
Egos was surprised to see his main weapon, the strongest two-handed axe available at that point, as Lost continued.
“Use whatever you want. Being beaten senseless by someone that completely outmatches you even at your full power is a fitting end to you.”
“Damn you…! Don’t look down on me! I’m the main character!”
Egos understood he was being thoroughly looked down on, picked up the best weapon, and held it ready.
He made use of his game knowledge to pick the best weapon available as his anger towards Lost burned brighter… Meanwhile Lost’s anger was below freezing as he looked at Egos.
“Main character this, main character that. Is that all your brainless head can feel proud of?”
“What!?”
Egos’ yells no longer reached Lost.
His only source of pride was his status as main character, and he did not realize he had lost even that… Or rather, he never even understood the position of main character to begin with. Lost laughed scornfully at him and spoke.
“…Normally we are not to put our hands on you people. Our fighting power is low compared to the bonuses you received when you reincarnated… But there’s an exception for everything.”
Lost slowly raised his right arm.
Egos noticed the bracelet with a shining green jewel as Lost brought his hand up to his face, and spoke quietly.
“Henshin…!!”
A green and black torrent gushed from the depths of the earth and engulfed Lost.
Egos was shocked by the overwhelming amount of magic energy, as Lost emerged from the dark light.
“What do you think? I learned from my hero. Not bad, uh?”
A simple silver armor. The helmet had giant compound eyes that shined with an enchanting green color.
He had shining thorns in various places, starting from the arms, and Lost spoke coldly while facing Egos.
“Egoshi Kirio, I will deliver your punishment. The one who failed to know his place even after seeing the game over message will retire here.”
