I’m unemployed but I’m exploring the dungeon again today – Chapter 138 – The Abyss XI (Second night) – Part two

After this problem, I keep taking stuff out. What I have the most of here are hobgoblin and demon weapons and equipment. If I sell these when I get to the surface, I think I’ll make a lot of money.

Next, monster parts that can’t be eaten.

Some I forgot to sell, others I just got. There are some random fruits among them, so let’s put them aside.

I also have multiple flavorings, tools I use in explorations, and potions. And a lot of manga and figures Fuuma bought.

Some small stuff too, but all I have for food are random fruits and candy.

Ah, it’s better than nothing, I think as I reach towards them, but they’re not there anymore.

Oh? I turn to look, and see a horse eating candy.

The greatsword of fortitude flashes, and approaches the stupid horse to skewer it.

But Fuuma is enveloped in a golden color and dodges.

What are you doing, is what the stupid horse’s threatening neigh means, but that’s my line.

You stupid horse, you ate the food we had left.

Do you realize there’s nothing left?

It couldn’t be helped because you can’t fight on an empty stomach?

Screw you, I’m hungry too!

I say, and it gives me a random fruit stem it hid in the perpetual spring scarf like it’s feeling guilty.

I’m thinking about killing it.

As I think I really need to show it who’s boss, I kneed magic energy. But my empty stomach leads me to fall to my knees.

Fuuma sees that and approaches me, presenting two random fruit stems with eyes of pity.

I smack them down hard.

What do I want with that you idiot!?

Fuuma looks shocked, but I need to think about what to do.

There’s no food. Even if I had what Fuuma ate, that would fill my stomach once, and nothing else would change.

I need to turn to what I rejected.

Eating this carries a big risk, and I might die, but you can’t make an omelet without breaking some eggs.

The big, big baseball dome turtle.

It smelled nice during the big kaiju battle, and seemed edible, but I have no idea if a person can eat this.

It shouldn’t be hard to cut meat from that giant body, but if it recovers, that’s the end for me.

I don’t have any magic potions left, so I’d have to deal with it using what I have, and I’m not confident I can do it before it fully recovers.

That said, I’ll starve to death if I don’t do anything.

I focus on Magic Energy Circulation to fill it up, prepare myself, and put out my hand.

I take the sea turtle from the Storage Space, and start working on carving away meat.

Fuuma is behind me, anxious.

I try to cut meat as fast as I can, but the blade won’t go in.

I use Limit Break, and I finally swing the blade into the meat.

I keep cutting, and quickly get off the shell to put it back in the Storage Space.

Ooh!! I yell, unable to hide my excitement over what I got.

I got about ten kilos of marbled meat. It looks like high quality beef.

I doubt it will regenerate from so little, but I think I should cook it right away just to be sure.

I take out a board and knife, and cut the meat into squares. I thought the knife might not go in, but it goes in smoothly, none of that hardness from before.

It takes a good deal of effort to cut it into pieces, but surely it won’t regenerate from these small pieces.

I fire up the magic item stove and use a frying pan. I pour oil, and roast one piece of meat to test it.

It sizzles and the smell makes me drool, but I can’t eat it just yet.

I roast it rare, and throw it into the mouth drooling next to me.

Fuuma chews, and swallows.

It doesn’t look like anything has changed.

All right!

So there’s no poison. I’ll eat too.

I put a lot on the frying pan and get cooking.

I taste a piece, and muh!? It’s tasty! It’s not like beef, pork, or bird meat. Or even fish. I’ve had soft-shelled turtle before, but this is different from that too.

Maybe it’s because it still has some magic energy, but I can’t handle the sensation of it spreading in my body.

I have a piece, and then just keep eating.

All the meat on the frying pan is gone soon enough, and I throw more on it. This time I’ll use salt and pepper. Hm, I could use yuzu and chilli. What about ponzu? No, let’s try it with sauce. As I have fun cooking, I feel Fuuma’s magic energy rising.

What? You want more meat?

I just gave you some. You ate candy, random fruit, and meat. That’s enough.

It’s not? Don’t worry, I haven’t had enough either, so I’m going to keep cooking.

Why do you look relieved? Grudges over food are scary. You’re not getting any more.

Fuuma’s magic energy violently rages.

Normally I would say I’m joking and share the meat, but unfortunately, not this time.

You stole my precious food. Like I said, I need to vent my grudge over food.

Come at me, I say as I hold up my greatsword of fortitude.

It’s a good chance to show you who’s boss. As the summoner, I need to maintain my respect.

I activate Limit Break, and I’m ready to move at any time.

Come at me!!

Fuuma sees me all confident, and opens its eyes wide like it’s deeply surprised.

It makes the magic energy around it dissipate, and cries out mhe~ like it realizes I’m really angry.

I’m not going to forgive it just because it cries. Only grade schoolers can get away with that. But Fuuma approaches me and clings to my legs while going mhe~.

Its face is distorted as it cries, making its ugly face even uglier.

Is this a psychological attack?

I swing my legs to try to get it off me, but it instead crawls up me with its ugly face.

Uoh!? I yell with fear.

I think I lost the moment it grabbed my legs.

At the end, I yell that I’ll give it meat and for it to get away from me.

So I lost.

If it can’t beat me with strength, it can use psychological attacks.

I’m not using this as a reference, but I learned that this is a method of attack.

I cook meat and throw it into its mouth.

It chews and neighs, and I feel like its magic energy increases a lot.

I focus on magic energy as I eat a few pieces, and feel it spread through my body as it increases. And I feel like the magic energy has become thicker.

Is this all right, I think as I cook and eat, and there’s nothing left before I know it.

I’m surprised we ate that much, and my body is asking for more.

I look at Fuuma, who is thinking the same thing.

Hm, I take the sea turtle from the Storage Space and cut more meat.

I cook it, cut more, and start to feel a beat from its body.

And its eyes appear.

Suffice to say, I feel like I’m gonna die, so I blast it with magic.

*World turtle’s stigmata

Gained by ingesting part of akupara. Provides a boost across the board, but in particular, it increases quality of magic energy. A hexagon stigmata appears somewhere in the body, and akupara watches over them. If it doesn’t like them, they will be killed. Tanaka will be killed if it regenerates. It vowed to absolutely kill him.

The location of the stigmata is in the parenthesis.
