I didn’t expect the powered up one to come like that.
Hives weren’t displayed on the map, but three appeared in the forest, and this one appeared after they all went down. I guess it matches the conditions to spawn powered up monsters I’ve encountered so far.
The Killer Hive guards ramped up with each one. It wasn’t like the vanguard units, but it’s true that big groups appeared when I attacked. And there’s no guarantee that it will end there once I attack. It has Familiar Summon III.
I’ll hit it hard and see the reaction of the guards with prudence. If I scrape away too much and too many come, that could be a problem.
“Is everyone ready? Here it goes…!”
Clink!
I execute a diagonal slash.
It’s a strong one without full boost, and it doesn’t do much damage, most likely because its Constitution is above the stats I can actually use.
“…It’s tough!”
It feels more like I hit a lump of metal, making me grimace. But it’s still treated as an attack, because I feel monsters starting to appear all over. There’s a red bee among them that looks particularly aggressive.

“Is that the equivalent of a rare II?”
There are two of them, and four Killer Bees. Thankfully, there aren’t that many maroon bees. But leaving rare II alone could be dangerous, so I have to do something about them fast.
“Let’s go! Crash Tempest!”
As a preemptive strike, Ayane’s magic bursts.
Just like before, a giant tornado catches a lot of base monsters, and also two Killer Bees and one Red Killer Bee. But the Red Killer Bee escapes the area of effect before it’s cut apart, and charges at Ayane.
‘Vuvu, vuvuvu!!’
“I’m not letting you!”
Clink! Bam bam bam!
I get between it and Ayane, and it shoots stingers like a gating gun. I cut them all down and try to attack it again, but Aira gets behind it after it attacks, and stabs it with her short sword.
【Level up】
【Leveled up from ninety-four to hundred fifty-six】
“Nice, Aira!”
“Great!”
Despite being targeted by a rare II, Ayane never loses control of her magic, and continues controlling her wind magic. In the end, two Killer Bees go down.
“You have nerves of steel, lady.”
“Of course. I know darling will protect me!”
“Yes, leave it to me!”
“Okay, we’re not losin’ either. Maki, Kasumi, let’s go!”
“Yes!”
“Y-yes! I’ll do my best!”
The three girls are spurred on by our fight and take on the other Red Killer Bee. Well, it’s a rare II, but it’s still level hundred and forty. Aki and Maki should be able to handle it.
I make sure nothing gets in their way, and face the other Killer Bees.
This goes smoothly, and after a long fight with the Red Killer Bee, Aki and Maki’s combat skills finish it.
【Level up】
【Leveled up from hundred fifty-six to hundred fifty-eight】
As I think I can’t roll the gacha because these battles are one after the other, Kasumi jumps with surprise.
“Wah!?”
“Hn? What?”
“…I leveled up a lot.”
“Ah…”
That’s right, Kasumi was only fighting base monsters before. She stayed level ninety-six yesterday, but after fighting a level hundred and forty rare II…
Yep, she would spike in level.
“Hya, I’m level hundred fifty-five.”
“Congratulations?”
“T-thanks…?”
The big level up leaves her in a stupor.
“Didn’t you say you didn’t want experience?”
“Y-yes… I didn’t like sitting still while my big brother fought, and I stepped forward when you were having a tough time.”
“You’re a nice girl, Kasumi!”
“I’m glad you tried to protect us. Thank you.”
“Ah, hehehe…”
Kasumi is an attacker, so it must be tough for her to constantly be on the defensive. And…
“So you wanted to play with me? You could’ve said so.”
“Play…!? Being an adventurer is a dangerous job, and it’s a game to you?”
“Hn, so? Exploring dungeons and uncovering mysteries is like a hobby. Fighting is an extension of that fun.”
Kasumi looks around, and receives smiles and nods.
“It’s Shouta.”
“Fufu, that’s what he is like.”
“Dungeons are a part of darling’s life!”
“If you take dungeons from master, nothing remains.”
“That’s not true! Probably…”
I say in response to Aira, but I feel like she’s not wrong.
…Is there really nothing left? I’m getting sad…
“…Play?”
As I get depressed by myself, Kasumi mumbles.
“I see, I was lonely… It’s like before…”
“Kasumi?”
“…I want to play with you and the others! So take me on adventures!”
She looks at me with pleading eyes, looking just like the girl that followed me around ten years ago.
I grab her hand and pull her up.
“Okay. Make sure you don’t fall behind!”
“Yes!!”
