Walking in another world – Chapter 365 – Elizabeth – Part three

When I first saw him, I thought my heart would stop.

“Is that… Alzahak?”

He looked like the dragon god Alzahak.

He did, but I felt no sense of divinity from him.

After that, I spent more time following him.

I saw him enjoying his life in Archa… And got angry.

Also, at the same time, a turbulent new race appeared.

Demons… A group that served the demon king when the demon king was born. They reminded me of Kochel. Was it because they appeared in Archa after Kochel disappeared?

They had long life spans, learned as the years passed, and movingly prepared to kill me. Apparently they resented me for killing who they saw as their master, the demon king.

As I watched them, I thought it was futile. Because I knew. I understood.

No one in Archa could even harm me… Yes, the only ones who could harm me or destroy me were otherworlders.

But I figured I might as well keep quiet about that and fight the demons. I thought that would be more fun, and besides, maybe…

◇ ◇ ◇

Time passed, and something happened.

Alzahak married someone from Archa, and was blessed with a child.

When I saw that, it felt like my heart was freezing.

All I felt as I watched that happy Alzahak was the simmering hatred in me start to boil.

And so, I made up my mind. I would kill the one he loved. If he forgot his duty, I would remind him.

I feel like it was at that time that my heart really started breaking.

I made Alzahak’s partner a saint, and used her to kill the demon king.

I imagined he remembered me, because he apologized and pleaded for me to spare the rest of his family.

Seeing him like that made me realize that the one who possessed the same power as me no longer existed. I was made to understand that as he stood then, without any sense of divinity, he could not kill me.

◇ ◇ ◇

About a hundred more years passed, and war once again broke out in Archa.

I looked for someone suitable to become demon king, but found one that was a little too young.

But I made a decision after seeing her skills.

She had formed contracts with spirits. Spirits who ruled over space, no less. It should not be possible, but with the power that came from awakening as a demon king, maybe she could open a door that led here.

Not only that, but one of the otherworlders summoned that time caught my attention.

He had a strange skill I had not seen before.

And as I followed his actions from time to time, I saw he also had interesting encounters.

Among them was the little sister of the demon king. Once I saw them go around together, I decided to use her.

If I could direct his killing intent to me, maybe he could kill me.

Part of me thought that, but part of me also thought he was just a person, and it would be impossible.

But whatever the result, I figured I should try it.

If I ended up killing them, I would just chalk it up to fate.

And then, the fateful day came.

The demons proudly declared that they had prepared that place to kill me, and attacked.

I had to control my smile, and try hard to play along, as I thought to myself that it was useless.

Also, I used the doll from the Kingdom of Elesya.

It seemed that the contract she formed with him held back the darkness etched into her heart, but once that was lifted, I gave her a push to go crazy.

Once he came to this world, that contract would be voided. And if she rampaged and killed the demon king, that would sever their escape route.

And after a fierce battle, I was defeated by a blow from him.

When he stabbed me with that dagger and I looked into his eyes, I smiled. His anger was without a doubt at a fever pitch.

And sure enough, he came to the world where I lived, along with demons.

It was my first time fighting in my own body. It was a different sense of elation, compared to possessing someone else’s.

Fun. Fun. Fun. Was what I felt.

But at the same time, I thought with a cool mind.

Me, who had the duty to watch over Archa, and me, who wanted to end that duty.

My heart… Had lost most emotion from spending so long in solitude. I figured it was probably being revived because the remaining emotions were being shaken.

And so, I abandoned what I decided, and decided to leave myself to fate.

If I won, I would once again watch over Archa. If not…

In the end of that battle, they tried to destroy the soul circulatory organ.

Once I realized that, I wondered what would happen to Archa. I was interested in how they would react when they were faced with the reality that they had destroyed the world.

But my body moved on its own.

I stood in front of the soul circulatory organ to protect it, and my life, my divinity, was scraped away.

Once the attacks stopped, I knew I was beyond saving. Fate had picked Archa.

But Archa would one day end.

No one would be left to manage it. Still, I figured the energy stored could maintain it for a few millennia.

If someone returned in that time… When I thought that, I laughed.

What was I expecting? No one returned in all this time.

But, as if to betray my expectations, Alzahak appeared before me.

Once I saw his face twisted in an apologetic way, I knew.

But still, I had nothing to say to him. I had no strength left to speak anyway.

My heart was just bright. I would be freed.

When I closed my eyes, I thought back to those fun times. When the twelve of us watched as Archa developed.

If only I could go back to those times…

Yeah it’s quite enjoyable so the dragon king abandoned her to live his own life
