Walking in another world – Chapter 369 – Capture (Beast king’s point of view)

When I get back to the inn, I’m told to go to a room first, not the dining hall like always.

Watching others enjoy their food makes my stomach growl, but the main members, like Ryuryu and Heat aren’t here, so they’re definitely waiting for me in the room.

If I ignore them and eat first, I’m going to hear about it later for sure.

Some of the people in front of me would consider getting scolded by Ryuryu to be a reward, but unfortunately, I’m not into that.

“I’m back.”

As soon as I go in, someone gets mad. Why?

“End, didn’t I tell you to knock? What if I was changing!?”

“…? Nothing would really happen, would it?”

“That right there! Good grief. I’m going to report it to my sister. You’re getting points subtracted!”

I look at Heat so he can throw me a lifeline against this unreasonable person, but he just looks away.

I knew Ryuryu wouldn’t be changing, because she’s not here alone, so it’s normal to not knock, right?

Well, I will knock when they go back to their own rooms.

“A-anyway. You called me because you need something, right?”

As I say that, I realize there are two people here that while not unfamiliar, wouldn’t normally be here. And they’re bound with ropes.

“He’s Argo, right? Was he the one tailing us?”

And the other is his partner, Guilford, I think. I’m pretty sure that’s it.

“Yes, and it looks like his party members have been busy as well. We were just about to start the interrogation.”

My body trembles with a sort of fear, as Heat says that and bares his fangs. He really looks like a bad guy. I’m sure kids cry when they see him.

A lot of bear beast people are gentle people, in contrast to their appearances, but humans don’t know that, so they’re scared based on appearances alone.

Well, I’m sure A rank adventurers won’t be scared.

“So, why were you following us?”

I go straight to the point, and Ryuryu holds her head with one hand.

What’s wrong? You can go rest if you have a headache. You’ve been working too much lately.

“…Because you’ve been acting suspiciously. You’re walking around like you’re investigating the streets of the capital.”

Argo responds directly, and Ryuryu’s mouth hangs open.

That’s not very proper for a girl like you. I should talk about that with my wife when we get back.

Still, that’s an A rank adventurer for you. He saw through us.

But I need to confirm something.

“So? Did you report that to the guild?”

“N-no, not really…”

“So why are we being spied on?”

“They probably want information. Apparently Argo over here is looking for someone. That’s probably why he thought what we were doing looked suspicious, from his perspective.”

“Hn? Where did you get that information?”

That’s the first I’m hearing of it. Everyone’s surprised to hear Ryuryu say that, not just Argo and Guilford.

“From Minarisa, one of the guild employees.”

Was there a Minarisa there? Why do you even know so much?

Ryuryu looks at me, and lets out an exaggerated sigh.

“So what should we do? Silence them?”

“H-hey, don’t say that, that’s scary.”

Sometimes Miss Ryuryu here can get pretty extreme. I wonder who she takes after?

“But you know they might get in the way of our objective?”

She has a point. This strategy can’t fail, so we need to remove anything that worries us, but still…

“Then we should take them into our group. I think that would work. Or form a contract that won’t let them leak any secrets.”

That would be the most peaceful solution, but can we do that?

If they were bad, we could spare mercy, but according to what I heard in the guild, there’s nothing bad about their characters, other than Argo’s habit of hitting on girls.

Good grief. These people that don’t know a man should love only one person with all his heart…

But they can’t just not reveal our secrets. They have to swear not to interfere too.

“Yes, that’s right. They have to swear absolutely secrecy and to not get in our way.”

I say, and everyone nods.

“So what do we do? Ryuryu’s execution, or my proposal of forming a contract?”

I think the answer is pretty obvious. Yes yes, of course.

And stop kicking my shin, Ryuryu.

We get ready to form a contract right away, not just with these two, but with the other party members locked in another room too.

Now we just need to form a contract and disperse. But that’s when Ryuryu drops a bomb.

“But it’s too bad. If Argo and the others helped us, they might’ve met the person they’re looking for.”

Argo’s hands stop completely.

What’s that about?

“Right?”

Don’t ask me, I don’t know what you mean.

“Miss Ryuryu is correct.”

Says Heat. That was misleading. She said it while looking this way, so I thought she was saying it to me. But I guess Heat is behind me.

“When we got to the capital, we investigated the adventurers currently here. Why did they refuse the extraordinary reward they would get if they went to the fortress city and stayed here? I thought.”

Continues Heat. That’s true. Normally one would get excited at the prospect of facing a strong enemy.

“And that’s how we came to find out that Mister Argo here stayed because he’s looking for someone.”

“So?”

“As a result of my solo investigation, I found out where that person possibly is.”

“R-really!?”

Argo asks as he leans forward. Ah, he fell.

“Where is it?”

“May I, Miss Ryuryu?”

“Hn… After the contract. Having more power on our side is never a bad thing.”

What a scary girl. And Argo ends up forming a contract of full cooperation.

Are you sure? You haven’t even heard what it’s about.

Is Argo not thinking about it well? Or is Ryuryu just that scheming?

I really can’t tell right now.
