Yuugo yelled back at the male student who suddenly showed up with a lot of intensity, and looked for an explanation.
This attitude only enraged the other student more, who smacked his tongue and threw abuse along with his anger at Yuugo.
“Yuugo Clay, how do you feel about deceiving an ignorant new student and making her your girl? You’re scum beyond saving, getting a new girl right after Zenon took Lady Claire away from you!”
“What do you mean deceive? Wait, you’re misunderstanding. I didn’t do…”
“Quiet! I don’t want to hear it! It’s just a heinous guy like you tricking the pure Melt so you can violate her! I, Rush Winhelm, won’t stand for it!”
The young man with the masculine face yelled as it turned bright red.
Melt stepped in to help Yuugo, as he was being pressured by what felt like the threatening attitude of a red ogre.
“Calm down, Winhelm! Yuugo isn’t tricking me! I’m the one who proposed we accept a quest together in the first place! You got this all wrong!”
“Don’t say anything, Melt. You don’t know, but this guy used to brandish the treasured sword Garandil and use the Clay name to humiliate a lot of students and laugh at them. He’s not the kind of person that such a pure and charming girl like you should hang around.”
“Hold on. Yes, I think I did bad things to people like you in the past, and I feel bad about it. But I’m not deceiving or violating Melt. That’s all in your head.”
“Like I can believe you! Like I need to listen to scum that was even abandoned by his family! Everyone feels the same, right!?”
Rush’s entourage responded to his call with loud agreeing voices.
He strongly felt that the agreeing voices of his friends behind made him right, and pressed on Yuugo again.
“I’ll say it again, Yuugo Clay! Let Melt go this instant, and never get near her again! Scum like you isn’t worth it!”
“Maybe I am scum, but who are you to say who Melt can be involved with? What are you to Melt anyway?”
“Exactly! I decide who my friends are! We’re just in the same dormitory and that’s it! We’ve basically just met, so what gives you the right!?”
“Melt, you don’t know anything! You might think this is none of my business, but you’ll eventually understand that what I’m saying is right!”
Rush was hit with a two piece combo of sound arguments, and his expression seemed displeased for a second, but he quickly argued back with uncertain claims.
Yuugo was about to say that Rush was in no place to be doing this, but before he could, Rush grabbed him by the collar and sent him flying back.
“Uoh!?”
“Big brother! What are you people doing!? That’s dangerous!”
“Hn? Big brother…? Are you this scum’s little brother?”
“My big brother isn’t scum! He can be a bit coarse, but I’m proud to call him my brother! You’re much scummier, ganging up on someone like this!”
“What…!?”
Rush frowned, and a blue vein appeared on his forehead, as he clenched his fists and trembled with anger.
Tears welled up in Phi’s eyes, as he continued yelling everything that was on his mind.
“My big brother is great! He’s cool! He won that duel the other day, and saved all those people when he took down those monster armor beasts! He’s not like you, who can’t do anything alone! He shouldn’t be called scum by people like you!”
“You…! What does a kid like you know!? Talking smack like you know anything! Brother of scum!”
Rush was irritated by Phi, who knew nothing of the humiliation they endured, defending Yuugo, and raised his clenched fist.
It seemed like he was about to mercilessly strike the much younger Phi, but the arm being swung down with force was stopped before it could reach him.
“Wha…!?”
Rush felt something grab his arm, and was surprised by how it immediately stopped moving completely. He turned to the side, and saw it was Yuugo who was holding it.
Rush looked at Yuugo with surprise, who looked down a little while not moving at all, and spoke quietly.
“…Maybe he said a little too much. I apologize for my little brother. But let me speak as his big brother.”
“Guh, ah…!?”
Yuugo gripped Rush’s arm tighter, and Rush shrieked as his arm creaked.
He got closer to Rush’s face, which was painted with pain and groaned, and growled with a low tone while showing the anger on his expression.
“I don’t care what you say to me. I can take you calling me scum. But… Putting your hands on Phi is a different story. I’m not going to forgive anyone who makes him cry. Remember that.”
“Guu…!”
Rush received the serious warning from Yuugo, along with the feeling of pressure and the pain in his arm that felt like it would break it, and was unable to speak.
Yuugo let him go, having said everything he wanted to say, and Rush stumbled before falling back on his behind.
His friends surrounded him and helped him up, and after taking a few deep breaths, Rush glared at Yuugo with sharp eyes.
Anger once again burned inside him, as he watched Yuugo in front of his little brother, looking down at him. And then, he got up and screamed.
“It’s a duel…! I’m not letting this humiliation go! Fight me, Yuugo Clay!”
“…Fine, you got it. And if I win, you can’t mess with us again. Me, Phi, or Melt. Got it?”
Sparks flew as Yuugo and Rush stared at each other, and Yuugo accepted the challenge.
As the students around them made a lot of noise, Yuugo’s response was quiet to the point of being unsettling, and Rush continued to glare with hatred.
