At first, Zenon did not understand what Melt said.

He was using his powers as a main character, completely shifted the flow of things, and told her of how unscrupulous Yuugo was. It should have resulted in her thanking him by saying something along the lines of ‘thank you for opening my eyes’ , and walking away from Yuugo into his arms.

And yet… She was not looking at him with the bright smile he envisioned. In fact, she seemed creeped out, and her expression did not hide how unpleasant she thought he was, with some anger mixed in.

“Yuugo set that up? I’m being tricked? Don’t be silly. How can you say that when you weren’t even there? Your story sounds fishy right from its premise, and more importantly, it’s disrespectful to everyone that was involved.”

“Ah…!?”

Said a dumbfounded Zenon in response, as Melt shook his hand away.

Something was not right. That was not how it was supposed to go. Those thoughts ran around in Zenon’s mind, as Melt rejected his ideas with a kind of rough voice.

“I felt a lot of things that day. Killing impulses of monster armor beasts, fear of battle, a bond to a friend I could trust, and… The gratitude and relief of people who were saved. That smile Mina showed couldn’t be fake. Those tears of joy when her mother saw her again couldn’t have been just acting. Don’t talk when you didn’t see anything, and know nothing!”

“Ah, eh…? W-why…?”

Strange. It should not be like that. Melt should be his.

She should thank him, and leave Yuugo.

“What you’re all saying is ridiculous! You make fun of Yuugo for being abandoned by his family and disowned, and then you all say he used his family’s connections to cheat! You actually know that doesn’t make sense, right?

And wanting to help me is a lie too, isn’t it? It’s very obvious that you’re just looking for a reason to attack Yuugo because you hate him! And yet, you can’t say anything on your own… That’s lame.”

Melt was not supposed to cover for Yuugo. She was not supposed to verbally attack the students backing him.

There was some sort of mistake. It was getting strange… And as the baffled Zenon thought this, Melt expressed her anger, and spoke to him with a strong tone.

“I wondered what kind of great person you were, since everyone calls you a hero, but… You’re just like Yuugo, the opposite of what the rumors say. The worst…!”

“A-au…”

The worst… The words released by Melt hit Zenon with the impact of a hammer smashing into his head.

It could not be. Something like that should not happen. A heroine like Melt should not reject the main character…. Zenon was perplexed by how he had the strongest power in the game, the power of opportunism, but could not activate it, and turned to Yuugo as his whole body trembled.

“Yuugo Clay…! F-fight me…! A duel! If you win, Melt can do what she…!”

Just like what he did with Claire, he just had to take what he wanted via a duel.

He already beat him once, and he had all the information he needed about his opponent inside his head. There was no way it would not end in a victory for him.

He just had to win. He would activate his privileges as a main character, and defeat the villain. Then everything would go as he planned. Everything would go well.

It was what he thought anyway, but his plans were crushed in a way he could not expect.

“…Yuugo, face this way.”

“Eh? But Melt…”

“Just do it!”

“Y-yes!”

Yuugo was glaring at Zenon after hearing his challenge, but Melt ordered him with a tone that would not take no for an answer.

He lost to that serious attitude and looked at her, and what he saw, was Melt stretching upwards a little and approaching him with her face.

“Hn…! Hn, nn…!”

“!?!?!?”

A soft sensation touched his lips.

A sweet, enchantingly sensual moan echoed in his head, and as Yuugo saw Melt in front of him with her eyes closed, he froze and fell into a state of slight panic.

“A, a, ah…!?”

You’re kidding, is what he wanted to yell. What Zenon was seeing was like a nightmare.

Zenon was too shocked to speak, as he saw up close one of his favorite characters, Melt, kiss Yuugo, and fell weakly to his knees.

Melt ignored him, and kissed Yuugo for dozens of seconds, before turning to Zenon with her face red.

“Don’t talk about freeing me with a duel anymore. I’m with Yuugo because that’s what I want. What you’re doing is just a bother. Did you all get that? Don’t use me as a reason to start trouble with Yuugo again.”

The place turned quiet like it was the dead of night.

Everyone’s words were taken away by this unforeseen development. And after saying everything she wanted to say, Melt took Yuugo by the hand and left.

“Let’s go Yuugo. You too, Phi.”

“Ah, y-yes!”

“Ahe? Eh? Uh…?”

Melt left the dueling grounds, along with Phi, whose face was bright red after seeing a kiss scene involving his brother and a fellow student, and Yuugo, who at this point was in a full panic.

Zenon was left alone and rejected on the stage, sunk on the floor with a shocked expression, and continued to weakly hang his head and show that pathetic figure to everyone present.
