“These are stronger than I thought!”
“Don’t get close, there are too many bombs! Uwaah!?”
Zenon was hiding as he heard the hero prospects fight gigantroses, and thought to himself it had begun, as he watched it unfold.
Up until this point, the story had progressed as the hero prospects wished and expected.
It was all according to plan. Raiha was sealed in the jewel by Koumaru, and Ryuuga was injured by a sneak attack.
The story could split into three branches, but they were taking the one that would lead to Ryuuga’s death. They could protect him in this crisis, and deal enough damage to Zaraki to make him retreat, but… Shian and the others had no intention of doing that.
In fact, they had their hands full with the gigantroses that were much stronger than they expected, so they could not save Ryuuga if they wanted.
If Ryuuga was killed by Zaraki, Koumaru would get careless and be sniped by guards, and they could retrieve the jewel where Raiha was sealed.
Zaraki would retreat, and they would not need to face such a strong opponent.
This route carried the downside of losing an S rank party member in Ryuuga, but… it also carried the major upside of easily recruiting the combat miko, avoiding the route where Ryuuga and Raiha got together, and adding her to a harem.
Most importantly, the hero prospects had several bad experiences with the duo of Yuugo and Ryuuga, and him dying full of regrets before his nemesis would be the best punishment for him, and it would make them all feel better.
And so, even if they could easily defeat the gigantroses, they were not going to save Ryuuga.
Zenon watched on as he thought about that, and felt disgust over his lack of strength.
(It’s not like I’m going to save Ryuuga, but…)
If he did not get a game over, and was with the other hero prospects… He would abandon Ryuuga for sure.
He wanted Raiha too, and the flag between her and Ryuuga was in the way. But Zenon was not a main character anymore. And he was not on the same level as the other hero prospects.
Even if he did happen to stand up for Ryuuga, he would never beat Zaraki. He would be killed instantly.
He was so excited to live his best life in a game world… but was not any different than a background character at this point.
It was no different than before he reincarnated. Zenon felt an indescribable frustration at how everything ended up the same as before.
He received cheat abilities from a goddess, so why did he end up like that? He thought about this and how he was supposed to have literally been reborn, as he raised his head.
(No one can beat him. Even we couldn’t beat Zaraki…)
If the hero prospects, the strongest ones there, were having trouble, there was no way they could get Zaraki to retreat.
Even if they all attacked together, all it would take would be for an attack to graze them, and it would all be over.
Without power and a plan to beat Zaraki, nothing could be done… Zenon had already given up, and was ready to just watch things unfold.
All he could do was suck on his thumb as things went in the direction the hero prospects wanted, with Ryuuga’s death and Raiha being saved.
But… He should have known. That was not what was needed to change the future.
“Uoooooooooooh!! Henshin!!”
A howl echoed through the battlefield.
Zaraki’s hand was stopped before it could smack Ryuuga, and Zenon turned in that direction.
He had the shining sun behind him.
Something jet black in the air released a crimson shine as it descended on Zaraki and howled.
“Blasteeeer Kiiiiick!!”
“Whoa…!?”
Zaraki let go of Ryuuga and jumped back, avoiding the attack.
Yuugo caught his partner as he was released, and yelled.
“Get it together Ryuuga, I’m here to help!!”

It was on this day that Zenon finally understood, this is the hero’s proof!
