“Byugoooooooh!”
“You coward~! What a cheap way for a loong to fight~!”
Melt yelled to the wind loong that flapped its wings in the air and released wind blades.
Melt and Setsuna were good at long range attacks, but this opponent was not a very good one for them.
“Kuh…! No good, my arrows are being erased…!!”
Setsuna’s arrows carried wind and loong power, but the wind loong was even stronger, so its gust of wind erased all arrows.
Melt sent magic energy swords flying with her Seward Ring, but… she lacked range, and they failed to reach the wind loong.
“Come down here~! Fight fair~!!”
“We can’t just let it keep attacking us…!”
The height difference was very important in a shooting battle.
The wind loong was above them, so it had the advantage and could keep attacking them uncontested.
They had to do something about it, but as Setsuna released her arrows, they were still all being erased by the wind.
A wind blade flew at her in return, and Setsuna got ready for it to fall, but… Melt got in front of her.
“Setsuna, watch out!”
“…!!”
Melt yelled while sending a magic energy sword towards the wind blade.
The magic energy sword’s tip hit the wind blade in the center, destroying it, and continued flying towards the wind loong, but disappeared along the way.
“Ah! It really doesn’t work! My attacks won’t reach it…!!”
“…!”
No matter how many times they tried, the result was the same. Their attacks would not reach the wind loong outside of their range.
Melt stamped her feet with frustration, but Setsuna realized something as she watched it unfold.
“Melt, there is a way! Let’s put our powers together!!”
“Eh…? Ah, I see!!”
Setsuna’s arrows had enough range, but could not get through the loong’s gale.
Melt’s swords could break through the gale wall, but did not have the range to reach it.
The solution to this problem was simple to the point of it being an anticlimax.
Melt understood what Setsuna meant, infused her Seward Ring with magic energy, and created a thin longsword.
“Break through the wind and pierce the loong… Strong and sharp sword!!”
Melt gave it shape by using magic energy while picturing it.
Setsuna looked on as she created what looked like something between a rapier and an arrow, and was given to her with a violet glow.
“Setsuna, here!”
“Thanks Melt.”
Setsuna fixed the magic energy sword to her bow, and took aim.
Melt smashed a wind blade flying at them, and Setsuna spoke quietly.
“Melt… I know this isn’t the time, but…”
“What is it, Setsuna?”
“…I’m sorry I kept quiet about Raiha.”
Melt accepted them as friends, but they kept something big from her.
She looked at Setsuna as she apologized for something that could very well break the trust between two people, and laughed cheerfully.
“…One lunch.”
“Eh…?”
“Buy me lunch in Ehn’s place. Then we’ll be even!!”
Said Melt brightly, and Setsuna felt confused.
Melt then continued, as Setsuna could not hide how perplexed she was.
“That’s no big deal between friends. Or did you think I was the kind of girl to say we’re no longer friends?”
“…No. I think you’re too good of a friend.”
“Right~? Then let’s finish this!”
“Yes. We have plans, so we can’t waste time here.”
Melt’s bright smile brought a smile to Setsuna’s face, as she let out a great exhale.
She breathed out the ill and hazy feelings inside her, and took aim at the wind loong with a clear heart.
(This will do it! As we are now we can…!!)
With Melt’s and her feelings, one arrow would do it.
She infused magic energy into the drawn sword, and the moment the wind long was in the trajectory of its tip, Setsuna released it with all she had.
“Go! Our feelings!!”
“Byu, gohh…!?”
The raging gale was ripped, a wind blade was destroyed from below, and the violet sword flew towards the wind loong.
The attack executed by Melt and Setsuna that carried their magic energy and loong power flew right at the wind loong, pierced it, and hit its heart.
“Gooooooooh!!”
It was the resounding wind or its last scream.
The wind loong fell as this sound echoed, and turned to dust as its body crashed into the ground. It was blown away by its own wind and disappeared.
“You did it, Setsuna!”
“Yes, thanks to you, Melt!”
Setsuna said to Melt while lowering her bow, as a very happy Melt hugged her.
She thanked her friend from another country for helping her do what she could not do on her own, and turned to Melt with her best smile yet.
