“Everyone watch out. There are a lot more people. If Regen’s group is going to make a move, it’s now.”
Yuugo felt nervous as he heard the boss’ voice through a communication device.
The guards’ objective was to capture the criminal organization before they jumped into action, and they sharpened their senses even more.
The countermeasure headquarters was tense, as reports about suspicious people started flying in.
“This is team A. We found a suspicious person carrying something. Commencing tailing.”
“This is team B. We decided the target poses no threat. Going back to observation.”
“We haven’t found any suspicious people where there is a lot of foot traffic. But considering the number of people, we are changing formation in case something happens.”
“It feels like it’s time…”
Whispered Jinba, and Yuugo gulped.
If they could find the person carrying the birdcage, they could prevent this attack and retrieve the hostages… Yuugo thought once again that the success of this operation could change the situation drastically, and it seemed the others felt similar pressure.
“I-it feels like everyone is suspicious…!!”
“I agree. I cannot help but suspect anyone carrying any sort of large parcel.”
“It’s hard not to get mixed up when there are people like merchants and staff carrying large products for stalls and equipment…!”
Said Melt, Sakura, and Angel. Perhaps because of nerves, the girls patrolling started to suspect everyone around them.
Yuugo heard them and thought to himself he understood that, as he heard Marcos next.
“Yuugo, this is Marcos. Can you hear me?”
“Yes. Did something happen?”
“…I found one. It’s a man that was on the list Jinba was checking last night.”
Jinba stood up with a thud.
Meanwhile, Yuugo calmly heard Marcos.
“Marcos, where are you? Do you know where he’s going?”
“He is hiding in the crowd while heading to the center. And he seems very concerned about what he is holding.”
“What shape is it? Is it something in a bag?”
“He has a large bag with a shoulder strap under his arm. The other hand is always in the pocket of his jacket.”
“There is a communications device in his pocket that allows him to stay in contact with Regen in the birdcage. Then…!”
Mumbled Jinba with his eyes wide open as he heard Marcos.
Yuugo and Setsuna looked at each other, and after they nodded, Yuugo spoke to Marcos.
“Marcos, I’m heading there with Setsuna. Keep updating on the target’s location.”
“All right. Hurry, Yuugo.”
Yuugo then went to a sniping point with Setsuna.
Jinba went to the center where the man was heading, and Setsuna turned to Yuugo.
“You trust Marcos a lot. You’re not even questioning if the man he saw is the carrier.”
“We can count on him in times like these. He also checked the suspect list more seriously than Jinba or me.”
Marcos got carried away easily and had his flaws, but he had a strong pride as a noble that protected the innocent.
And so, he would stop at nothing to protect the hostages and the people enjoying the Thanksgiving Festival, and memorized photos on the list of possible carriers created by Jinba.
If Marcos was suspicious of someone, Yuugo believed it.
He responded to Setsuna, full of confidence in his friendly rival who risked his life to protect the powerless regardless of how powerful his opponent was, and continued speaking with the same emotion.
“I don’t just trust Marcos, I trust you too. I’m sure you’ll snipe him.”
“Oh, how nice. Then I really can’t miss.”
Setsuna’s voice sounded a little excited as she took out her Loong String Bow.
She took a deep breath, and with an expression free of excitement and carelessness, she heightened her magic energy and asked Marcos a question through the communications device.
“I’m ready. Marcos, where is the target?”
