About the case of destruction flags being demolished after a nichiasa loving otaku was reincarnated as a villainous student – Chapter 9 – Side: Main characters (A story about unfortunate people who know nothing)

“What does it mean? Why did an event like this happen?”

“As far as I know, it shouldn’t be possible…”

That night, Zenon and the other reincarnated students gathered again in the classroom.

Their topic of discussion was the event that happened earlier that day during the lunch break, the duel between Yuugo and Marcos.

“Why did that scum Yuugo fight Marcos? And how did Yuugo win?”

“I seriously don’t get it…”

Everyone was baffled by the duel between hated nobles (although one was disowned), and its result.

They thought back to the profile of the loser, Marcos, while trying to figure out why that event even happened.

Marcos Bolg… A student in the same year as the main character, and although not a member of a first class noble family, he was the eldest child of the noble Bolg family nonetheless. In Luminous History, he was seen by the players as a character that could join their parties at the early stages of the game.

His defensive and offensive power were pretty good, thanks to the Giga Scissors magic item equipped on his left arm, but his magic attack and magic defense not so much. He was seen as a purely physical character, and one used by a lot of players in the early stages of a playthrough, including Zenon.

On repeated playthroughs, most people would go for other characters instead, and even in their first playthroughs, many would bench him halfway through. But why did he challenge Yuugo?

Originally, Marcos saw Yuugo, the member of a noted family, as an enemy, but never challenged him because he possessed the powerful magic item Garandil.

Marcos’ event started when the main character defeated Yuugo, and Marcos started thinking that even if he could not defeat Yuugo, he should be able to defeat the inexperienced main character.

After losing to the main character, he would begin to gradually change from a hateful noble into a decent person as they fought together.

In the end, he would express those feelings to the main character, who was pretty much his comrade in arms at that point, accept his own weakness, and become a true noble that would stand above others… So why did that Marcos challenge Yuugo and not one of them?

Something was not right… They thought, but then Zenon casually spoke his thoughts with an exasperated tone.

“It’s not that strange, is it? Did you really play Luminous History? Marcos was afraid of challenging Yuugo because he had the Garandil. But that scum lost to me, and doesn’t have it anymore, so… Marcos got carried away and challenged him. It makes sense.”

“I see… But that means that Zenon beating that scum too early really did have an effect on the events, right?”

“What, are you complaining? It’s fine. Did any of you want Marcos to join you?”

Asked Zenon with a brash attitude, and all he got in return was silence.

He was not particularly strong, or a character any of them wanted in their harem, so it was clear by their response that none of them really cared what happened to Marcos.

“See? So what’s the problem? All we have to take away from this is that such things can happen. This event might have changed Marcos’ story, but that in itself is fun, right?”

“…I guess so. It’s nothing really worth caring about.”

“The one thing I don’t care for is that scum Yuugo getting a popularity boost! Fighting to protect his brother or whatever! He just didn’t want him to get hurt because he’s going to sacrifice him later!”

There were some consequences, but they happened to characters none of them cared about, so there was no need for concern.

And with that conclusion, that discussion wrapped up, and they got into the main topic.

“So, about ‘that’ character…”

“First come first served, right? That’s really the only option.”

“That said, sit this one out, Zenon. You already got your dear Claire, so it’s okay, right?”

“No way. Claire’s the one I wanted the most, but I want more cute girls in my party! Not to mention that this girl is… You know?”

Gufufu, giggled Zenon with a creepy smile, but he was not the only one. Everyone present shared that sentiment.

Everyone talked with the same female character in mind, and wrapped things up with an agreement that whoever got to her first would win.

“But I think this is one case where we can’t move things along faster. We just have to move immediately after the flag is set.”

“I’m taking her! And then… Gufufu!”

“Yuck! You’re so creepy! I know what you’re thinking, and that just makes it creepier!”

They all kept each other in check and hurled abuse at each other as they left the classroom they were using for their meeting.

And as Zenon stepped away from the others, he continued to let his imagination run wild with a creepy smile on his face.

(Sorry my dear Claire, but an otherworlder really does need to make a harem. First I’ll get that girl, and… Mufufufu!)

The character that got the reincarnated students so fired up was one that, much like Marcos, players could meet in the early stages.

They would meet her through an event, so there was nothing they could do at this point. And if they did not take action quickly once that event popped up, their rivals would get to her first.

It was time to prepare. Slowly, without rushing.

Zenon fantasized about the fun he would have after he made that girl his, much like he did with Claire, and his heart raced… But there were bad news for him.

Due to the duel that happened that day, a certain boy got a step ahead of them to set the flag to meet her.

That meant that the actions Zenon took to get Claire ruined his chances of getting another character he had his eyes on, but neither him or the other reincarnated students knew about it at this point.

It was the day after this meeting, that the character they wanted so much would be taken by the boy they despised so much.
