I was reincarnated on an island where the strongest species live, so I will enjoy a peaceful life on this island – Chapter 71 – Snow

“Snow snow snow.”

The girl looks very happy about the name Reina and I whispered at the same time.

Snow steps in front of me and says her name while pointing at herself, and then does the same in front of Reina.

Then she does the same thing in front of Katima numerous times, probably because the incident from earlier left a mark.

“It looks like she likes it.”

“Yes.”

When you consider her gentle silver hair and her small fairy-like figure, it’s actually a good name, for something that just suddenly popped into my head.

At the very least, it’s way better than the dangerous name Katima came up with, Eternal something or other.

“I didn’t expect you to say the same name, Reina.”

“Me neither, but…”

Reina looks at Snow, and I follow her eyes.

Snow is saying something to Katima, who has kind of a troubled expression on her face.

They both have silver hair, so when I see them like this, it feels like a big sister being dragged around by her little sister’s crazy behavior.

“She reminded me of a snow fairy I saw in a picture book a long time ago.”

“Yes, I’ve seen something like that too.”

I guess even though we’re from different worlds, the image we get is the same.

Of course, the reason why we can communicate in the first place is probably because god gave me that ability, but…

Suddenly, I look outside, beyond the sliding door where Katima was blown away, and see small white somethings falling on the corridor that leads outside.

“…It’s snowing.”

“Eh?”

We go outside to the corridor, and see snow falling from the clear sky, dancing in the wind as it falls on the alfar village.

“Uwah…”

“Pretty…”

The sunlight reflecting off the falling snow feels so magical, that I can’t take my eyes away.

But the temperature is pretty regular on this island. If anything, the alfar village is a little warm.

And yet, snow is falling…

“Snow! Love it!”

I suddenly notice Snow near our legs, so I pick her up and look at the sky.

Her eyes are sparkling as she looks up at the powdery snow. She’s like a little girl seeing snow for the first time in a ski resort.

“I figure this is your power, Snow?”

“Hn?”

When I ask, she tilts her head.

It looks like she’s not doing it intentionally.

“Controlling the weather is normally unthinkable… Well, she is from this island.”

“Mommy, is Snow great?”

“Yes. So great that I was surprised.”

“Mufu.”

Reina pats Snow’s head, and she giggles with pride.

It’s strangely cute, and funny at the same time.

“All the alfar are outside to see what’s going on.”

“Ah, they are.”

Says Katima, as she looks down from the corridor.

The alfar village is composed of houses along the precipice. They’re painted white, so they’re easy to see, and we can see the alfar looking up at the sky and the clearly abnormal weather.

Since the elder’s house is built at the very top, it’s easy to see the rest of the village.

The snow is beautiful, so the adults are looking up with interest, and the kids are excited.

“It doesn’t snow here, so a lot of people are probably seeing it for the first time.”

“Eh… By the way, have you seen snow, Katima?”

“Katima’s gone around the island, and there was snow in the north.”

When I hear of north, what pops to mind is that little devil of a vampire that’s always playing tricks.

Yes, I think her specialties are ice and dark magic…

“It was terrible though. Katima was called an invader.”

“Really? But you made it out alive.”

“Katima’s an high alfar, stronger than regular alfar.”

I feel like that’s not a problem if we’re talking about facing Wil, but then again, she likes tormenting people, but doesn’t do anything like killing them.

I can imagine Katima running around with tears in her eyes, and Wil holding her belly laughing.

“Daddy, want up!”

“Hn?”

“Let Snow see too!”

She says while holding her arms up.

Her little white wings flapping on her back are cute.

“Yes, come here.”

“Yay!”

I pick her up, and Snow also looks down at the alfar village.

People were a little wary at first, but now that they know there’s nothing to be afraid of, both adults and children are having fun watching the snow.

“Looks fun!”

“Yes, and it’s thanks to you, Snow.”

Snow looks happy, with her eyes sparkling like crystals.

“It really is a magical sight.”

Whispers Reina, next to me.

A precipice only mother nature could make, and sunlight reflecting off the falling snow.

I’m sure it’s something that I could only see in this world.

“…This world really is incredible…”

I keep seeing new things every day. Fresh, fun, and…

Suddenly, I see Reina with the snow falling behind her as a backdrop, and feel like the beauty I’m seeing is something right out of a mythical passage.

“…”

“What’s wrong, Arata?”

“Eh, ah, no, nothing.”

I’m too embarrassed to say I was fascinated.

I already knew she’s a beautiful and charming woman, but I was still caught off guard.

“Mommy, pretty.”

Snow reaches over to Reina from my arms, like she wants to go to her instead.

The moment Reina holds her, I see her holding babies with black and red hair.

“…!?”

Just for a split second, it was like I was seeing a vision from my future, and my cheeks turn red.

It was just a delusion of sorts, but it felt weirdly vivid.

…I should take that to my grave.

“The general idea of time doesn’t exist on this island, so you might’ve seen the future.”

“Eh?”

“Ah, elder, you’re up.”

Suddenly, I notice the alfar elder is here.

I didn’t notice him at all…

“Not to mention that it’s rare to see you walking around.”

“Fuofuofuo. This is a sight I can’t see often even if I live a thousand years.”

The elder opens his eyes a little more behind the white eyebrows, and looks at the sky with a smile.

“Hum, that just now… What do you mean there’s no concept of time?”

“Hn? Ah, just an old man babbling.”

He says like he’s telling me not to mind it, but I do…

“Don’t think about it too much. I have been alive for over a thousand years after all, but I have known great spirits born five hundred years ago for over a thousand years.”

“…I really don’t understand.”

“Like I said, don’t think about it too much. After all, you… Not even gods can understand this island.”

After saying this, the elder starts climbing the corridor’s railing, and leaps down the precipice.

“Eh…?”

“E-elder!”

“Ooh, he’s flying.”

He spreads his arms like a flying squirrel as he falls, and we look down at him.

“Everyoooone! We are having a banquet to celebrate the birth of a new great spirit!”

Since when are you this agile!?

I see the elder yell as he falls, and feel like I have to yell at him in my mind. That’s just how much what I’m seeing now contrasts with what I saw from the elder before…
