Level Gacha ~ It turns out the dump stat 『Luck』 is the most important – Roll 14 – Investigation and negligence

I’ve been test driving Fireball, while also testing using magic while fighting with my sword.

All this time I’ve only had to focus on close range combat, but it’s harder than I expected to fight while maintaining my magic.

I wish I could use magic right in the exact moment I need it, but it doesn’t work that way. I don’t know if it’s just how magic works or if it’s because I’m not used to it, but it takes a few seconds to go from using magic to it actually activating.

And if I take my time, I’m going to end up missing my timing.

And so, I’m trying to use it beforehand and fighting while holding it close to me… But I can’t focus.

And as I think that, two killer rabbits attack me. I figure I can use it to keep them at bay, so I use Fireball.

“Guh!?”

At that moment, I suddenly feel a chill and like I’m going to vomit.

I can handle it, but it happens so suddenly, that I can’t mask my panic. My focus is thrown off and I concentrate on myself so I can stop myself from collapsing, but as a result, the Fireball that was supposed to fly towards the killer rabbits misses its target and lands in the nearby river.

But then…

Splash!

“Kikih!

“Kih!”

“…!?”

There’s a big splash, and the small tsunami it causes swallows the killer rabbits.

This sudden occurrence makes them panic, and I quickly compose myself while watching them, before running towards them and cutting them down.

Those attacks land exactly in their vital organs, and the two monsters turn to smoke.

I get an unexpected level up too, and those chills and nausea from before disappear too.

“What was that? That Fireball was small too. Wait, if that disappeared when I leveled up, could it be exhaustion from magic use? I’m pretty sure I used it fourteen times since the last level up. I’m level seven now, but my Magic Power until just now was forty-one… Does that mean each shot of the Fireball spends three Magic Power?

And once I don’t have enough, it still activates, but causes chills and nausea the moment it hits zero… It would be really bad if that happened while I fought a strong enemy, so I need to keep in mind how many times I’ve used it.”

I figured magic was limited, but I didn’t know that would happen when I reached the limit.

I should’ve tested it beforehand. If that happened while I fought a rare monster, I might’ve died.

And another thing on my mind…

“An explosion like that happened when Fireball hit the river… That could be useful even if I don’t activate the spell beforehand. And I really can’t focus on the magic enough to maintain it while fighting.

But then again, I can’t just bring it out the moment I need it… So should I start activating it as I’m put in a situation when I need it…?”

But that would require me to predict my opponent’s movement patterns.

I more or less understand them after fighting them numerous times, but at the same time, it would be rough when fighting monsters for the first time…

And while I think that, I try to replicate that phenomenon again.

My Magic Power is forty-two now. That means I should be able to fire fourteen proper Fireballs, but then I should suffer from those symptoms again.

And so, I keep fighting monsters, and activate my fourteenth Fireball.

“Guh…!!”

Yes, this discomfort is tough, but I can bear it if I know it’s coming.

Then I stop using magic, and level up by only hunting monsters through melee combat.

“Ahh… It calmed down.”

This could wear me out mentally if I did it every time. But at least I do feel a small sense of fulfillment because it worked exactly as I thought.

Then I keep annihilating killer rabbits while testing things with magic. Unlike this morning, I reach level eleven by the time the killer rabbit horns start stuffing my bag.

“They’re tougher than goblins, but it’s faster to level up with them too.”

I went from level eight to eleven after taking down a hundred goblins, but taking down ninety killer rabbits brought my level from two to eleven. They really are in a higher category.

I check my surroundings, and excitedly activate Level Gacha. And as always, I press the ten spins button

Clank clank clank.

Six blues, three reds, and one purple.

“Yes! Another purple one!”

“Foresight? I feel like it’s exactly what it sounds like, but will the dungeon network application tell me more?”

Let’s see…

“A skill that, when the user thinks their opponent will move next, allows the user to perceive a predicted future. The more the user sees and fights said opponent, the more accurate the prediction will be. Furthermore, it seems some sort of condition controls the rate at which it is activated, but since it is a rare skill, there isn’t a lot of information available. Market price is around two hundred million.”

I turn off the smartphone the moment I see that number. Let’s just ignore that.

“Hold on, the type of skill I wanted just popped out. Is this because of Luck too…?

But still, if we’re talking about stats alone, I’m pretty sure I’m not a beginner anymore. And I’m pretty sure not a lot of people have this many skills either. It’s too bad my safety net as a source of skills, the SR capsules, didn’t give me any this time, but stats are stats, and those amounts really make me feel like they’ve gone up, so I’m happy about that too.

I’ve gotten quite a few capsules by now, so what’s left…”

‘30/100 remaining.’

“Thirty? Not long until they run out.”

It’s only been three days since I got this skill, but the fact that I’ve used it so much really makes me feel like I’ve gotten stronger.

“Well then, only a little more until I hit a hundred killer rabbits. Let’s get through it quickly!”

What will happen when it runs out, I wonder?

My theory is that Level Gacha actually levels up to level 2 when the “spins remaining” hits 0, and gives better skill orbs on average after levelling up.
