The frontier alchemist ~ I can’t go back to that job after you made my budget zero – Chapter 287 – Dealing with one issue at a time!

After overcoming Ahri’s high tension ‘talk’ with the power of pancakes, I report to Kalin’s office like I planned, and go back to my room.

I receive the unfortunate implication that I may need to accompany Princess Lily when she goes back to the capital.

If it’s an order from my boss, there’s not much I can do about it, but that doesn’t mean I’m happy.

But we’re not sure that Princess Lily’s memories from when she was the ‘Third Seat of Immorality’ are going to stay completely gone, so…

But what’s really on my mind is that when Princess Lily was the ‘Third Seat of Immorality’, she helped me get points for Seilook, and she was an enemy of the shaman because she wanted to destroy the world. And then there’s the fact that she really wanted a sword clad in purifying light, which apparently is one of the components of that homunculus. She knew something, that’s for sure.

In the end, no matter how much I mull over this, it’s not a good idea to leave Princess Lily unattended, just in case something does happen.

“And what about other demons attacking to keep her silent… Ah, I doubt something like that would happen.”

A thought crosses my mind, but I dismiss it. I’m sure even the shaman didn’t know Princess Lily was actually the ‘Third Seat of Immorality’, so it should be fine.

Thankfully, we still have a few days before she leaves, and I’ll do what I can in the meantime.

“Well then. How are you feeling, Rose?”

I ask Rose, whose roots are enclosed in a large cultivation tank, and whose vines are gently floating.

Rose really didn’t like it when I had to prune the parts that were damaged, before I could start the reconstruction, and turned its petals sharp. But it’s been a few days since I moved it from the laboratory of the Kagero Institute to my room, and its mood is finally improving.

Now it’s poking its vines out of the cultivation tank and waving them again.

“《Activate》, 《Transcribe》. Hum… It’s going well. Maybe I should reduce the density of the medicine in the fluid a little, and add nutrients. Ah, let me just prune this…”

Rose immediately pulls its vines back inside the cultivation tank.

“Rose, I swear this is the last one. If we don’t do it properly, it’s just going to delay your recovery, right?”

In the end, Rose reluctantly extends her damaged vine.

This is bound to happen with such a drastic reconstruction of body tissue. I’ll have to work on that in the future too, for the sake of Rose’s peace of mind as well.

“And done! You did well, Rose.”

Rose pulls her vine back into the cultivation tank, and looks relieved.

I smile awkwardly as I leave Rose, and walk towards another work in progress, Roa’s broken spear on the table.
