“Oh, you have such simple meals, Master Rust? You’re like the most pious sisters in our church.”
“Am I? I don’t really think of them as simple. They’re just made to be effective and easy to consume.”
Actor Kahelone and I keep chatting, as we head towards the church of Araysla.
If we go to her room in the church, her ‘divine protection’ will let us have a secret conversation without anyone listening in. We are chatting randomly and holding off on saying anything important until we get there, but still, actor Kahelone is strangely easy to talk to. Even as we walk, there are no awkward pauses or anything.
Also, people greet Actor Kahelone from time to time as we walk, and everyone clearly leaves feeling happy after exchanging just a few words.
I guess it’s in the nature of her job to be good with people.
“It feels like you’re the big popular person around town.”
“Well… I will take that as a compliment, mister hero of our nation.”
She retorts with a bright smile.
“You got me. I said too much.”
An awkward smile naturally forms on my face as I reply.
“Indeed. And as punishment, you have to call me Kahelone from now on.”
I can see from a gap in her veil Actor Kahelone putting her black hair behind her ear as she looks this way. Her beautiful, long and narrow eyes meet mine.
“Very well. But in that case, call me Rust.”
I say, going along with the mood of this conversation.
Well, she’s Taula’s friend, so it’s not that weird, is it?
Eventually, we reach a building I remember seeing before. It’s the church of Araysla.
Walking in like this feels a lot different from going straight down from the sky like I did before.
“This way, Master Rust. We should go see Sister Reese first… Please ignore anything weird she might say.”
Actor Kahelone stops for a second, and rushes to add that last part.
As I think about how it’s going to be hard to ignore someone I’m going to thank and return something I borrowed from her, I follow Actor Kahelone inside the church.
