The frontier alchemist ~ I can’t go back to that job after you made my budget zero – Chapter 297 – In Kahelone’s room again

After thanking Sister Reese and giving back her book, I head to Actor Kahelone’s cute room with her and we sit on wooden stools, facing each other.

She looks restless for some reason, and I can see from the gaps in her veil that her ears are a little red. I saw Sister Reese saying something to her when we left. I wonder what it was.

“Is anything wrong, Kahelone?”

“N-no. Nothing. Ah, that’s right. I should bring you something to drink. Kya!”

Kahelone starts fidgeting and quickly gets up, but she gets caught in one of the legs of the stool and almost falls.

I quickly hold her by her upper arms.

“…Excuse me. Are you all right?”

I can tell even through her nun’s outfit that she is slim, and I apologize because I figure I held her too tightly. Then I check to see if she’s back on her feet, and let go.

My right hand didn’t react at all, meaning there are very few negative emotions for it to feed on. Then again, maybe it’s the effect of her ‘divine protection’.

I clench my right hand and open it a few times, and for some reason, seeing this makes Kahelone’s face red all the way to her ears.

“Are you all right? Your face…”

I ask again reflexively, and Kahelone faces down.

“…Tea.”

“Eh?”

She whispers something and rushes out of the room, as I’m left here unable to do anything but stare blankly.

It takes a while for Kahelone to come back, but at least her face is looking normal again, and so is her overall behavior.

I figure I shouldn’t touch what happened before, and sip the tea that was carefully poured for me.

It seems like it’s the same tea leaves that are a staple here in the capital, but the temperature is just right, and I feel almost no bitterness.

It feels like rather than the leaves being of high quality, this tea is good because of the time and care put into it.

“Ahh… Thank you for the nice tea. Well then, can I ask you about all this talk of dead people coming back to life?”

“Yes, of course.”

Kahelone places her tea cup on the table. There are faint magic elements floating around the room, no doubt because of Kahelone’s ‘divine protection’ to prevent anyone from eavesdropping.

“Vice-president Ghan of the arms transmutation department has come back to life.”

And then, Kahelone starts talking about this request.
