The frontier alchemist ~ I can’t go back to that job after you made my budget zero – Chapter 330 – Side Ahri – Part nine

It’s strange. I shouldn’t be able to move like this…”

My spear feels incredibly light as I repel the enemy with many legs rushing this way.

In front of me is the reason why I’m down here, the giant pill bug.

Its body curves slightly in the middle, and I can see many legs rustling about underneath.

“There’s not just fourteen of them, and they’re so long and creepy…”

Its legs are so long, it feels like it folds them and puts them away.

They look thin at first, but they’re actually all thicker than my spear, and look very hard.

My spear has gotten tougher somehow, but it still can’t sever those legs, and it’s all I can do to repel them.

Every time my spear clashes with the giant pillbug’s legs, a hard, metallic sound echoes through the cave.

My future sight activates.

I see future visions of the giant pill bug’s many legs attacking me with feints. I jump like I’m plunging my spear into the ground, and evade them.

It’s hard to move around inside the cave, because the enemy is so big.

I see a future vision of me using the momentum as I fall to attack the giant pill bug, but my attack is repelled and the enemy uses that opportunity to strike my flank with one of its legs, so I don’t do it and instead take some distance.

“This is troubling. It’s an impasse. I’m prepared to take damage and push through, because I have Master Rust’s potion… But it looks like even that would be hard.”

And then, my future sight activates again, but it’s different than usual.

I feel a sudden burning pain running to my eye. It’s something I haven’t felt since I received this magic item from Master Rust.

In the vision I see, I’m fighting while a deep red light I’ve never seen before envelops me.

“Fuah! Ahh, ahh… What was that? This has never happened before…”

I try desperately to compose my breathing, and deal with the legs that attack me again. But all I can think about is the future me I just saw.

A future where I’m doing something even I don’t understand… Should I try it? All I can do is trust my magic eye…

I dodge an onslaught of those legs, and take a big leap back.

“Let’s try it. My future.”

I whisper as I put out my left hand and move it with my index finger extended.

I’m copying what I saw myself doing in that future vision.

This… Looks like what Master Rust does when he’s operating that thing he calls display that I can’t see…

The next moment, a deep crimson light runs through the tip of my spear.
