The frontier alchemist ~ I can’t go back to that job after you made my budget zero – Chapter 332 – Side Ahri – Part eleven

The giant pill bug’s body is scattered by the deep crimson light, and beyond the hole that was blocked by that big body, I see what looks like the basement of the royal castle.

“It seems the cave ends here. Was the giant pill bug on stand-by after it finished digging it?”

I walk towards the part where the cave ends and the basement begins, while being careful not to step on the giant pill bug’s fluids. Strangely enough, there is no pale light coming from these fluids. In fact, I think I see a faint red light.

I think about how odd this is as I reach the hole in the wall of the basement. I have to jump down from it to reach the floor of the basement.

And then…

“I never would have expected something other than demons to use the power of ‘status’. Splendid splendid. Or are you actually a demon despite your appearance, young lady? That would make us sort of comrades. Although that doesn’t seem likely.”

I hear the moment I jump down.

My future sight didn’t activate, and I don’t sense enmity. That means… No, that seems unlikely.

The voice is coming from a young woman sitting on the steps to the basement.

The clothes she is wearing are the same you would find any girl in a village wear. She has shoulder length hair framing her face, which also looks very simple.

But there is an intense light coming from her wide open eyes, which combined with her nihilistic distorted mouth, completely negates the idea that this is just a simple village girl.

Her legs covered by a long skirt are wide open as she sits on the stairs, and she is staring at me through a circle made by the thumb and ring fingers of her left hand.

Strange. She is supposed to be an enemy, the creator of the bugs clad in purifying light… Someone who was reincarnated and has the power of divine protection. My future sight showed me fighting her, but…

I am as alert as I can be as I hold my spear with one hand, and extend my other hand and move my finger.

Crimson light clads my spear again.

“You must find it odd that the future sight power of your magic eye isn’t activating. But if you can use skills, that means you’re still a match for me. Good grief, splendid splendid.”

The enemy that looks like a village girl puts her fingers in her mouth, and lets out a shrill whistle.

The next moment, the walls and floor of the basement start swelling, and bugs clad in pale light burst through them.
