The frontier alchemist ~ I can’t go back to that job after you made my budget zero – Chapter 53 – Side Rihalzam – Part nine

Rihalzam ran as fast as he could while staining the ground with sticky mushroom smoothie.

His body was so dirty, it was hard to tell exactly what was sticking to it at this point, and he looked so tattered that he did not look like the same person that left the capital.

As he ran, he complained with the same tone one would use to put curses on others.

“Ahh, ahh. That rust! That damn Rust! How dare you how dare you!? You’ll pay for this. And not just you, I’ll get my revenge on everyone around you.”

Rihalzam ranted loudly as he ran, making his breathing erratic.

“I swear I swear. I’ll make you taste despair. I’m gonna humiliate you. What do you mean no way? I’ve never liked that guy from the start. Acting all high and mighty just because he has a bit of talent. Acting all arrogant…”

His verbal abuse was too much, and his speed gradually decreased, before he suddenly began unconsciously dragging his left leg. His left thigh had a big swell where part of the monster’s body was left.

But strangely enough, it barely hurt, and this combined with his fury meant it went unnoticed.

Before long, all his ranting left him out of breath, which made him stop. He put his hands on his knees, and finally noticed the abnormality in his body.

“Ah? What’s this?”

After scrapping the mushroom smoothie sticking to his left thigh, he finally saw that it had swollen to almost double its original size.

“Hey hey hey hey! Wha-what is this…”

He quickly took out one of the few potions he had left, and held it with his trembling hand as he drank it in one gulp.

“Why isn’t it working!?”

Out of desperation, he drank every potion he had left.

“Weird, it’s not doing anything… What do I do…”

He scratched his head, and mushroom smoothie that was stuck to his hair went flying everywhere.

“Wait. If I make it back to the association, I’m sure there’s very high quality potions there. I’m sure that’ll fix me! I didn’t want to use this because it gets my clothes dirty… But at this point who cares?”

Said Rihalzam while looking down at his clothes, before taking out a scroll.

“《Inter-Dimensional Connection》, 《Creep on My Flesh》, 《Parasitic Transmuted Beast Nº4 (Myxomycete King)》.”

Rihalzam took out another scroll with a magic circle, and plunged his arm into it.

Before he pulled it out, something appeared between the magic circle and his arm, which crept onto his arm.

It was myxomycete, which could be called the true form of mushrooms, and it continued creeping around the rest of his body.

“Take me to the capital.”

Rihalzam gave an order to this myxomycete.

It suddenly began to spread faster and covered Rihalzam’s entire body, before his face and hands popped out of openings provided by the myxomycete.

And then, the myxomycete began to accelerate, eventually running many times faster than Rihalzam could.

Rihalzam made his way straight to the capital in this state, with his body covered in myxomycete and only his face and arms exposed. But within the swelling in his right thigh, something continued to grow.

Oh how the story will get a plot twist soon.

Thanks for finding the story. I’ve been enjoying the raws and am currently at 100/336.
I have to say, I wonder how the plot will twist further.

Feels fitting that all his beasts are parasites, as that goes to his own character.

Compare him to mushroom are the insult to the mushroom though. At least they contribute to the cycle of nature, unlike his wasted a**

More than likely, what Ahri was afraid of was the parasite causing damage to the capital and it’s citizens.

Rhizopus is a parasitic fungus, wonder if his name has something to do with fungus.
