Walking in another world – Chapter 245 – Bandit subjugation – Part ten

First, I need time to drink an EX mana potion. There’s no point in learning MP Consumption Reduction if I don’t have MP to use magic in the first place.

I finish setting up a stationary type of magic, and throw knives. Gonza dodges one and blocks another with his sword, but the third is infused with magic.

It explodes at just the right time, but his good instincts or whatever mean he manages to take a big jump back and evade it.

Fortunately, that attack didn’t really need to hit. The whole idea was for him to go back, but he would’ve probably been hit by the magic I set up earlier if he moved forward too.

I activate the Firewall, and it stands between me and Gonza.

That’ll buy me some time, so I take out an EX mana potion and drink it while stepping back.

I can’t actually see Gonza now, but I can still track his movements with Presence Detection. I think he knows my intention is to buy time, because he swings his sword at the Firewall to open a hole and jumps through it.

But then an Earthwall goes up. Of course, he doesn’t care, and tackles it to break through.

This guy really is crazy.

I hold up my magic energy infused mithril sword, and get ready to intercept.

The Earthwall slowed him down, but he dodges my sword, repels it, and counters.

My wounds keep piling up, but I keep at it, and when our swords cross…

“Fire Arrow!”

I shoot it at his face, but despite the short distance, he twists his body and swings his neck to dodge it.

The Fire Arrow passes right by his head. What kind of reflexes are these? At least I threw off his balance, so I step forward, and…

“Recovery.”

I chant, followed by Space-Time Magic.

“Time Shift.”

Gonza is inside my range, so time starts flowing slower for him.

This has the effect of slowing his movements, but also extending the effect of Recovery.

Surprisingly, despite the Crazed level going down, and despite time moving slower for him, Gonza is still attacking.

He’s incredibly fast, for someone whose time is flowing slower, and he’s going for my vital organs.

Does he feel something isn’t right? Is it just pure instinct? He’s attacking not to harm me, but with attacks optimized to take my life without any wasted effort. That’s probably why those attacks feel so fast.

But, although not by much, they miss.

It’s probably down to the difference in our frames of mind. I’m thinking about what might happen, and trying to hit him with an attack that will kill him as quickly as possible.

I don’t swing my sword. Instead, I infuse it with magic energy, and unleash a Sword Master attack aimed at his heart, Pierce.

I feel some resistance on the tip of my sword as it penetrates his body, but it pierces him with no issues.

That’s where the heart should be, at least in a human. I raise my head, and lock eyes with Gonza, who has a surprised expression on his face. He vomits blood, and slumps forward.

After I pull out my sword, his body slowly falls.

After seeing him go down, I cut his neck with the mithril sword.

“It’s over…”

I feel my strength leaving my body.

But then I remember Hikari, so I try to run to her, but instead walk.

If I actually run, I’m going to collapse. And so, I walk as quickly as I can while trying to clear my head of any stray thoughts.

“Hikari!”

The knights are trying to tell me something, but I ignore them.

Hikari’s breathing is unstable, and she looks pale.

“I tried to give her a potion, but she coughed out most of it.”

Her mouth is red, and I smell blood.

She faintly opens her eyes when I call out to her, but it doesn’t look easy for her. Her usually expressionless face is twisted with pain.

I’m about to put my hand on her to cast Heal, but stop. I tried this before, so there’s no need to do it again.

If I can’t heal her from the outside, I have to heal her from the inside. Heal and potions should be working, but they’re being repelled somehow. Heal’s effect isn’t great, and she’s coughing out potions instead of drinking them.

Pouring a potion on her wound isn’t working well either. Is this no good too?

Then…

I pour full potion on my mouth, and infuse it with magic energy while picturing the Heal spell.

Then I slowly transfer it to Hikari’s mouth.

She’s surprised at first by my mouth touching hers, but she closes her eyes and relaxes.

Her throat moves up and down, signaling to me that the potion is flowing to her body. But I don’t want to panic and send in too much, so I’m careful and keep an eye on it as I do it slowly.

I do it again, and her breathing seems more stable, despite her face still looking pale.

Is it blood loss?

“Hikari, can you drink this?”

I sit her up and hold her to have her drink a blood-forming potion I made before.

That brings some color back to her face gradually.

She opens her eyes slightly again, and an awkward smile forms on her face when our eyes meet. Is she trying to reassure me?

I’m so relieved, that I hold her tightly.

“Master, that hurts.”

Hearing her makes me lose my strength again, and she ends up holding me this time.

“Thanks, master.”

“Y-yes, Thank goodness. Really.”

I hug Hikari again, not so strongly this time.

Feeling her warmth in my arms makes me lose all my strength, this time for good.

There’s a lot of noise around us, but all that matters to me right now is that Hikari is safe.
