Walking in another world – Chapter 333 – Demon king – Part four

After saying goodbye to Ou, and as I’m heading back to the room, I see the demon king… Eris, standing alone in the hallway.

She’s looking out the window, and I notice that it got dark before I knew it.

The sun was still shining brightly when I followed Ou into that room, so I guess I was in there longer than I thought. Yes, we really talked a lot.

“Everyone is done eating. Mia was worried about you, because you weren’t coming back. Chris was also a little concerned.”

She says with a smile, but her eyes feel a little lonely, and there’s this whole fleeting feeling to her that makes it feel like she’s going to disappear at any moment.

“No, I need to keep it together. I actually have a favor to ask you. Can we talk now? Or should I get dinner for you?”

“I’m not particularly hungry, so we can talk.”

“I see. Then let us talk over here. I will bring tea.”

I’m taken to a room, and I see Ignis and Ghido. But they’re not sitting down, it’s like they’re going to be standing behind Eris.

Eris sees them, and smiles awkwardly. The four teacups tell me she’d rather them just sit down.

The maid serving the tea sees this, and briskly pours tea on two cups.

“I was unsure about whether or not I should meet Chris. I didn’t want to get her involved in my situation. But then Suiren contacted me, and told me about your plans to go to Elesya, and I decided to see her.

Honestly, I don’t think I have long to live either, so I figured I should let her know I’m here while I can. They might have gone to Elesya looking for me otherwise.”

Eris then silently sips her tea, and puts the cup down.

“That country is strange. It’s a normal country for the average person, if they don’t go to dangerous places, but… What Chris and the others were going to do was most definitely dangerous. I underestimated… How far they would go to find me.”

She says, looking a little happy.

I’m sure she cares a lot about them too. That’s why she didn’t feel well about them going too far.

Well, I was involved in it too, so I can’t really talk.

“…Eris, when did you learn that they were looking for you?”

Eris peeks over at Ignis before answering.

“When you were in the dungeon… In Majolica. Although you were already heading to the Dragon Kingdom when it reached my ears.”

So there were people related to the demons in Majolica? And Chris was disguised at the time too. Did they learn because of Rurika and Sera, and because Chris was using her real name?

Kotori said they were attacked by demons on the way back to Elesya from Prekes, so could it be that the demons have more allies throughout the world than I thought?

“But what did you want to ask?”

I ask, figuring we should get to the main point.

“…It’s about Chris and the others. This place is going to turn into a battlefield, and it won’t be long until it happens. I don’t want them near here when it does.”

Yes, the kind of tough people that would make their way here might be too much for them. Sera could probably fight without major issues, but..

Eris doesn’t want to get them involved, because she doesn’t want the goddess to set her eyes on Chris. But realistically speaking, I don’t think I can stop them. I think if they really ask, I won’t be able to say no.

Eris then smiles awkwardly, like she can see right through me.

“Chris is more stubborn than she looks. And strong willed. That’s why she didn’t stop traveling until she found us. Although this also might have played a part.”

Eris says as she takes out a spirit amulet.

Around the time when we met, Chris told me that it was those amulets that told her Sera and Eris were alive. Although Sera’s only responded because Eris was holding it.

Eris holds the amulet in front of her face, and looks at it nostalgically.

What is going through her head?

“Or maybe it just caused more problems. Sora, if there’s really nothing that can be done, let them do as they wish. But if you can… No, I don’t think there is any point in me saying it. I’m sorry for taking up your precious time. Dinner is ready, so please rest too.”

What was she going to say?

We then wait for Rurika to get back on her feet, and go back to the faraway town for now.

Chris insists she wants to stay, but the demons force her to go back, under Eris’ orders.

So not letting her stay I don’t think it will stop them from getting involved
