After coming back from hunting monsters, we immediately start discussing what to do going forward.
I want to hurry, but I also can’t abandon people like Ignis, Suiren, and others after all they’ve done for us.
My Transfer skill can help relocate people, but the issue is figuring out where the close to two thousand people in this town are going to live. Also, my Transfer can only move so many people at once, which means I’ll have to make several round trips.
The first point is settled not long after we start talking.
“The Republic of Eldo is somewhat accommodating.”
Morrigan’s suggestion is accepted, because several races live in the republic to begin with. And apparently the fact that Suiren agrees plays a big part in that too.
People can move there and have a base of sorts, and from there, they can all decide where they want to go. But it’s important to ensure everyone’s safe first.
“Are you all right with that, grandma?”
“Are you sure you should be saying that?”
Chris and Rurika sound concerned, but Morrigan laughs without any doubt.
Come to think of it, the pendant Morrigan left had an effect kind of like an inro. That means we can probably trust her when she said they’ll be accommodating.
Once that’s decided, I make another Transfer magic item. That means my MP goes down again, but oh well. And once again, Windsor will be carrying it there for us.
It’s kind of rough for Windsor to have to go right after returning to the faraway town, but Ignis says he wouldn’t let someone go unless they’re strong like Windsor.
I don’t know what he means, but Windsor looks proud about it, so I’m leaving it be.
And a day and a half later, Windsor gets into contact with us. We all take turns guarding the town in the meantime.
“So who’s going first?”
I ask, and we settle on my usual party, Morrigan, Eris, Argo’s party, and Naoto and the others. Karina is staying.
“Here we go.”
People gather around me, and I activate Transfer. Our destination appears on my mind, and people around me start to faintly glow. Apparently I’m the only one who sees this, and everyone else sees nothing out of the ordinary.
Then I focus, and we are transported in an instant.
“What are you going to do now, Windsor?”
“For now, accompany them as a sort of guard.”
“You’re going to draw a lot of attention.”
This country sees demons just like all the others. And those horns and wings aren’t going to go unnoticed.
“It’s all right, I have this.”
Windsor says as he takes out an item that’s about the size of a fist, and infuses it with magic energy.
And then, he changes. His horns and wings disappear, and he looks like any other person.
“Hey, have demons infiltrated towns?”
“I can’t deny that possibility.”
Argo and the others turn pale and shudder.
“It’s not something just about anyone can use. It needs magic energy, but it’s also an item that picks its user. There are ones that can just change their appearances too. But this wouldn’t work inside that barrier in Elesya. Not that that’s a problem anymore.”
Argo and the others seem relieved, but that also means that they could infiltrate any other place.
Adonis even spent years masquerading as a cardinal.
“Let’s talk later. We have to get to the town.”
Says Morrigan, and Argo responds full of energy. But is he nervous? His voice is high-pitched.
It was like this in the faraway town too, but he’s completely different from the guy I used to see hitting on girls in the adventurer guild of the capital. It’s like he lost his assertiveness. He’s acting suspiciously, probably because he’s nervous with Morrigan.
His party looks exasperated when they see him, but Shun and Naoto get along better with him like this. I’ve been seeing the three of them talk with serious expressions on their faces.
As for Morrigan, her steps are firm as she walks straight to Nahal.
We landed away from the main road, so we have to return to it first, but she’s looking around with a nostalgic expression. It reminds me of Chris and Rurika when we first got to Nahal.
“What is it, master?”
“Nothing.”
I say to Hikari, and nonchalantly look around at everyone.
Argo, Rurika, and the other adventurers are all casually chatting, but they’re all cautious about their surroundings. It’s like muscle memory.
“…You’ve really grown up nicely.”
“Of course grandma. How many years has it been? We were a little surprised when we got back.”
Says Rurika to something Morrigan mumbled without thinking.
“I guess that’s true.”
“But I can imagine everyone being surprised, with you and Eris here.”
“I’m sure they will be.”
Chris and Sera say happily.
By the way, the other two elves have their ears hidden behind their ears.
Morrigan still isn’t in top shape, so she can’t use transformation magic, and Eris can’t use it in the first place.
“Aren’t there a lot of people here?”
Morrigan is right. There’s a line by the time we reach Nahal.
Everyone’s waiting to enter the town.
We stand at the end of the line, and look around and listen while we wait.
