We advance smoothly through the third and fourth floors, and enter the fifth.
After taking a break here, and now that Shizune’s MP is full again, she destroys the wolves again.
And in the end, five wolves spawn with a shadow wolf.
“…A shadow wolf…”
Shizune whispers with an annoyed tone.
Shadow wolves are weak against holy and light magic, but highly resistant to everything else. Shizune uses fire, ice, wind, and earth magic, but she could probably still overpower it with her high magic energy.
“Can I give it a try?”
Asks Mia, who’s been doing nothing but support the others thus far.
Yes, her holy magic should beat the shadow wolf.
“That monster is weak against holy magic but… Are you sure?”
Shizune sounds concerned, probably wondering if Mia can fight up close.
Yes, holy magic is great against shadow wolves, but their physical abilities go well beyond a normal wolf’s.
If you let someone on the back row fight it directly, they’re probably in for a tough fight.
“It’s all right, leave it to me.”
Mia waves her staff, and confidently steps forward.
She starts firing one Holy Arrow after the other, and takes out three wolves running this way.
The remaining two evade them, but Mia runs towards them.
“Wai, are you sure this is fine?”
Asks Shizune as she watches her, but I don’t think Mia is going to have trouble, with her current abilities.
She’s probably stronger than a lot of melee fighters.
And when the wolves attack her, she swings her staff with precision, and they disappear in an instant.
Now all that’s left is the shadow wolf.
It stretches its shadow to attack her, but it disappears the moment it touches the range of her holy magic.
“Holy Arrow!”
She uses Holy Arrow to keep it in check, gets close to it quickly, and strikes with the tip of her staff enveloped in holy magic.
One attack shatters the shadow armor, and the other finishes it.
“…Is that girl really a saint?”
I know right? Who would’ve thought someone would jump out of the back row and defeat a superior species by herself, while fighting up close?
But in this case, not only does Mia have high physical abilities, but her opponent is just right for her too.
I doubt this would’ve worked if it was a fire wolf.
With the fifth floor done, we leave the dungeon instead of going to the sixth.
We’ve been here for less than two hours, but Elsa and Alto look tired. They didn’t actually fight, but they’ve been tense all this time.
“Are you two all right?”
“Yes…”
Says Elsa, but she lacks the same energy as usual.
“How about we stop for today?”
We’re not in a hurry or anything, and I can see with Appraisal that their levels are going up.
Still, they haven’t reached ten despite the superior species being defeated, so I’m assuming it’s because we have too many people.
But I wonder what happens with experience that would go to me or Kaina.
In my case, I only gain experience by walking, and Kaina is in a golem body, so there’s no experience to be gained there.
Does experience get divided eight ways… I guess there’s no point in thinking about it.
“So where are we going next? To watch the tournament?”
Asks Rurika.
That’s an option, but from what I hear of the preliminaries, there are probably too many people there.
“Let’s just take it easy today. Well, you could go watch if you want.”
Hikari and Rurika look pretty interested.
“It’s fine. I’m actually a little tired from using the skill.”
“Yes, let’s all rest.”
And so, we all go back, not forgetting to sell the materials we got in the dungeon on the way back. I just keep the superior species’ meat and magic stones.
We could actually cook it today. They’ll make food for us if we ask, but since we have permission to use the kitchen, we can cook for ourselves.
Kotori said they cook for themselves as much as they can too.
And so, we all go rest until it’s time for lunch, and go exercise a little in the training area after that, so we can see how Elsa and Alto’s physical abilities are improving along with their levels.
They seem awkward at first, but they steadily get used to it, and are able to practice fighting with Rurika and the others.
And as I watch them, I wonder what’s on the agenda for tomorrow.
