The hero’s party looking for a ship, and the members of the seven great mages looking for a ‘bond’ to their destination.
They were supposed to be enemies, but with a common goal and merits to both sides, they boarded the same ship.
People there were without a doubt the strongest in the continent. All of them thought they would get through anything that might happen to them.
But a few days after they set sail, a streak of light suddenly ripped through the night sky, and the situation changed completely.
The clear sky from just moments ago was gone, and the ship was being shaken like it was surrounded by a giant storm.
“Arc! Ceres! This is bad!”
“It sure is… The ship won’t hold!”
The big ship provided for less than ten people was close to becoming scraps of seaweed.
The former saint Ceres tried to cast a barrier to try to protect the ship’s integrity, but for some reason, her magic was not activating.
“Why… At this rate…”
She was not the only one panicking.
Even Cara, one of the seven great mages, someone even monsters called calamities avoided, screamed fearing for her life.
“Hey hey hey! Can’t you do something, Seti!? Wind is your field!”
“…I’m trying. But the wind won’t listen.”
“Eeeeh!? T-then Zephir! You’re called Imperial Lightning so…”
He stood firm on the shaking ship, but although he tried to fire magic at the sky, nothing appeared.
It was a new phenomenon, even for a man who strived to learn magic for two centuries.
“…What is this?”
“It’s no use Zephir.”
Whispered a girl wearing a black military cap, and what looked like a military uniform.
“…Do you know something?”
“This is not something people can do anything about.”
Her name was Edinburgh Emil Edelheid.
As the first seat of the seven great mages, she was called the monster of the end, and the first mage, as well as being known as the strongest being in the world.
“B-but.. There was nothing until just now!”
They were the strongest group of mages, but still, few people could stand serene in the face of death.
At the very least, Cara, despite her power, was not the type to resign herself to death.
Everyone took action, trying to do anything they could, but Ceres stopped and looked at the calm Edinburgh.
“That light…”
“Yes. You noticed, saint?”
Ceres remembered the light she saw before the storm, and spoke as if talking about something dreadful.
“All was fine, but I felt the most powerful magic energy I’ve ever felt rip through the sky… And then the storm came.”
Edinburgh smiled, seemingly amused by what Ceres said.
“Yes. Something ripped it, leading to this. Meaning…”
They were close.
Everyone was at their wits end on the boat, facing death in the middle of the storm, but Edinburgh walked to the bow, and looked at the horizon while laughing.
She was happy, as though looking at someone beyond it.
