The kids are also helping build houses.
Building the places where they will live with their own hands is fun for everyone.
“Miss Lerunda, I want to see inside the castle!”
“Don’t ask too much of Miss Lerunda.”
We all eat the monsters we hunted, when a small boy asks to see inside the castle.
Come to think of it… It’s not like everyone can see the castle on the inside. I heard it’s because of safety, but I think it’d be fun to have events where we show people around. Of course, that doesn’t mean they get to see everything.
…When there were few of us, we could share all information, but the more people we have, the more ways of thinking there are, so I don’t think that can happen now.
That feels kind of sad, but having more people is what makes this place a country, so we have to be mindful of that. The more people we have, the more careful we have to be.
I… Don’t want anything to happen, so even though I doubt something will happen to the castle while I’m alive, I still think it’s good to be careful like everyone says.
“We could let you inside a little and see it. You can’t see everything, but you might be able to see some.”
I say with a smile, and the boy is happy.
He’s younger than I was when I was abandoned, but doesn’t look worried at all about being taken here from Rezzed all of a sudden.
That’s probably because they all look up to Mister Shuongalve. Or maybe because life here is stable. In any case, his parents don’t look worried to me.
Apparently people of Rezzed get together and talk, so I wonder if they talk about that there.
Thinking about that really makes me think Mister Shuongalve is great. He doesn’t think so, but I think it’s amazing how the others believe everything will be all right as long as he’s with them.
As the population grows, we can’t hear what everyone thinks anymore. I think when that happens, it’s the king’s job to decide what to do and what to put off.
Mister Hicked from Migha had problems with his father, and caused a revolt to change the country. That sort of thing happens when more and more people don’t agree with what the king says…
Sounds like being at the top of a country is difficult in different ways. I really do think Gaius should be the one.
After Gaius hunted monsters, he went to other people’s places to help build. He’s a hard worker, and nice.
He was the first beast person I met. And the person who started the idea of us building a country.
If Gaius has something in mind, I want it to happen. If he doesn’t want something to happen, I don’t want to do it. I want him to smile.
I feel like once I started thinking about Gaius being the one at the top, I keep picturing it.
That makes me excited, and I’m sure that would make for a wonderful country, even though I don’t really have any reason to think that. I wonder if it weighs heavily that I got all this expectation on my own…
“Lerunda, what are you thinking?”
Asks Miss Lan after stepping in front of me, as I’m thinking about Gaius. Mister Ilma is close too, looking at me with worry.
“I just have some things in mind. Do you have some time, Miss Lan?”
“Of course. I just finished what I had to do.”
She says with a smile.
When we start walking, Mister Ilma looks like he’s going to follow us.
“No Mister Ilma, I want to speak to Miss Lan alone.”
I don’t want to talk to him about this yet. After all, no one feels that I should be on top more than him.
First I want to talk to Miss Lan and hear her thoughts.
He looks disappointed, but leaves.
Sorry Mister Ilma. I’ll talk to you later.
We move to an empty room in the castle that is perfect for this.
“So, what is it?”
“Hum… I think Gaius should be the one at the top of this country.”
I say after checking that no one’s around.
—The completion of the castle – Part three
(The miko starts talking to the educator about her thoughts.)
