I’m going with a big ship big gun doctrine! Take aim at a slow life! ~I was thrown out into space, but I took over a spaceship by coincidence, so I’ll work as a mercenary while playing with the dirt.~ – Chapter 31 – Mishyltia Prime

After fifteen days, I found out that apparently the person I’m supposed to deliver supplies to in this prime that just joined the Alliance, is an otherworlder. But when I was asked what happened to Earth, all I could say was that it was destroyed.

“Okay, we’ve landed… Miss mechanical intelligence, was this what you had in mind when you offered me the quest?”

“Ah… No. He did talk about having memories of his past life that led him to space, but as far as specific places… Yes, he did talk about that.”

“Eeh~!!! He did~~!?”

“I want to say no, but…”

“Mechanical intelligence is clumsier than I would have expected.”

Says Suzuri, and miss mechanical intelligence glares, but then sighs.

“Let us meet my master first. Everyone, please.”

It sounds like we can’t say no, so we head to the dock.

This is the dock of the primitive civilization protective observation station, and since it’s the same type as in colonies and stations, there’s nothing really new to see. This is where we meet our contractor, Van Elbes Leu Mishyl Mishyltia ,and the one accompanying him, who is, well, odd.

Van Elbes Leu Mishyl Mishyltia is an ordinary person with blonde hair, blue eyes, and chocolate skin… I guess I could call him a dark elf?

He’s short, maybe a little taller than Suzuri? She’s shorter than 150cm, so he’s pretty short for a guy.

He’s wearing a simple round collar tunic dyed green, and half pants that are brown and reach below his knees.

His name is really long, and since he’s the ruler of a planet, I thought he’d be wearing something fancier.

“Thank you for coming. I am Van Elbes Leu Mishyl Mishyltia, but you can call me Van.”

“Thank you, everyone. The one who rules our planet, Mishyltia… Aitah!? Master!? What are you?”

“This clumsy doll with round joints is Amaryllis, an automata made by me. She has free will, and the Alliance calls her a low level mechanical intelligence. If we try a little harder, she might be able to get citizenship in a colony… But I don’t know much about that.”

Amaryllis, a blonde, blue-eyed and pale-skinned doll with round joints, wearing a classic blue maid outfit, grabs the hem of her skirt and does a curtsy.

“Once again, I am Amaryllis, widely renowned within myself as master’s greatest creation.”

“You have a better personality than the real thing… I’m Genma, a grassland two mercenary. You can call me Genma.”

“I’m Kori~! Nice to meet you~.”

“I’m Saratha. Pleasure.”

“I am Suzuri. If you wish to negotiate something else, I would appreciate it if you did it through me”

“Nice to meet you Genma. Don’t mind Amaryllis, I didn’t expect to meet a fellow countryman.”

A handsome guy winking looks right, but this Amaryllis is a character from a lewd social game… Apparently he couldn’t replicate her voice and personality.

With the greetings done, miss mechanical intelligence steps forward as if waiting for it.

“Hello, my new master, I am K-74F-AU1. I came as fast as possible as per your orders. Please name me.”

“Ooh, I see… You’re Sumire.”

“Hey! I’m above! You’re below! I served master first…”

“Sumire, thank you. The superior, su-pe-ri-or me will support you as you live your life in this complex and mysterious space age.”

“Don’t ignore me!!!!”

Amaryllis wildly gesticulates, and ends with a backwards bend like a skit is starting, but with the greetings over, we get away from that noise and tell the drone to lower the supplies.

“Darling, is there a rule that says people from your planet have to be funny~?”

“No, but it is what it is.”

“But it’s impressive how someone from a primitive civilization made mechanical intelligence.

“I have five millennia of dark elf history on my side. Uoh! That container is stuffed with space age tech!”

“Oh? You’re five thousand years old?”

“No, I’m fifty.”

“Oh~. You’re younger than Suzuri~!”

Everyone keeps lightly chatting… As the five meter combat drone turned transport drone lowers a container inside the dock, but Van is looking at it with a glint in his eyes.

“W-wow! I know this sounds weird coming from a guy that makes automata, but are bipedal weapons the standard in the future!?”

“No, the main ones are spaceships. It’s normal to do general work with bipedal weapons, but I’ve never seen one bigger than that.”

“No way! Well, if those are common, how much are they?”

“Ah… I would say they are generally fifty thousand puni new. There are many used ones, and you could probably acquire one for ten thousand.”

Van looks impressed as he hears Suzuri, but he’s not looking at us, his eyes are on the battle drone.

“That’s right, the currency here is puni. How much is that in yen?”

“One puni is between a hundred and two hundred yen. A three hundred fifty milliliter can of synthetic beer is three puni. But organic, natural food, is surprisingly expensive. A lettuce leaf is ten puni.”

“Hoo… Ho!? A thousand yen!? The ones made in vegetable plants that can be eaten without washing!?”

“Yes. Strawberries are about this big, and they cost something like ten puni a piece.”

I say while showing the size with my thumb and middle finger, and Van bends back.

“Gyoeh!? What’s with that price disparity!? And does that mean I can get a second hand bipedal weapon for a million yen!?”

“But cheap synthetic food costs a few puni per kilo.”

Van is holding his head in shock. Yes… It’s surprising how cheap industrial products are… As we talk, the automata and mechanical intelligence are still arguing. Well, one is walking over to us while still talking.

“Mister Van, you may learn that kind of information through this small information device. And you will need a translation implant.”

“Masteeeeer! The new one is impertinent!!”

“Ah, I see. So we can all talk because everyone has a translation implant?”

Everyone nods, and Van starts thinking… And suddenly opens his eyes wide.

“What?”

“It’s just that you have magic energy. I saw a bit and was surprised.”

“H? Ah, apparently Earthlings have it too. But I can’t use magic.”

“Eh…”

Van accepts it… He goes oh right, puts his arms out like he’s carrying something, and a brown sphere the size of a football appears in his arms.

Eh? What? Then I smell something like ripe melon.

“It’s life tree fruit. It didn’t rot because its time was stopped in my Storage Space. I can leave it in there for ten years with no problem.

This takes a year to ripen, and it’s nice and sweet. Have it while I work. You crack its shell and scoop out the soft sweet fruit inside. After you open it, you can store it in the fridge, and it won’t lose its flavor.”

“Hm, this cheat skill…”

“Everyone might call this power a cheat, but I call it a gift. This is heavy, but tasty! You saw that tree’s fruit!? I can harvest a mountain of it, so can you help us run through it!?”

Excuse me, says Kori with a big smile as she takes it. Leaving that aside, it’s finally time to talk about the space pirate base… I think, but…

“Ah, that’s not a pressing issue… Can you rest for a day? There’s so much I want to know.”

“Yes… The communications device… Sumire should be able to contact us, so call us if you need anything.”

“Yes! Good job! Amaryllis! Call Thomas and Guile to take this to my room.”

“Excuse me!”

We head back to the ship, excited. This smell from the life tree fruit is no joke, it’s so sweet, it’s crazy. It’s to the point where we need to check it for poison with a simple appraisal magic item,
