Walking in another world – Chapter 762 – Avid dungeon – Part twenty-eight

We’re starting hunting again this morning.

We took down a few of them, so we’re going after tartarugas, but we can’t really fight them. After returning to the lake, we see they’ve all moved to the back.

Maybe it’s because a hydra appeared, but all the monsters around here have disappeared.

“What now?”

We’ve only hunted one tartaruga in the past three days, and we still need more magic stones for everyone.

At this pace and considering where they are now, we’ll have to spend two weeks here.

I can’t use Provoke, and using magic to get their attention doesn’t work either.

Should I just learn a skill to move freely underwater?

There are all sorts of things, but it feels like a waste if I only use it here.

I see skills that let me breathe underwater and walk in it. I would need both at least, so that’s two skill points.

No, I’ll need to maintain the barrier underwater, so do I need three?

I’ve spent a hundred and eleven skill points on learning skills and leveling them up. That’s a lot.

It was easy to level up Walking until the hundredth level, but it got a lot harder after that. All of a sudden I needed way more experience.

The Walking skill is currently at a hundred and seventeen, and eighteen is far away.

This is because we’ve been traveling by wagon a lot. Not only from town to town, but even inside the Avid dungeon.

Of course, we should prioritize mobility, but what should I do?

In the past three days I’ve been increasing skill proficiency and mining.

Mining is very profitable. Argo and the others are kind of crazy about it. It wouldn’t normally be this profitable, but I can tell where ore is and what kind.

It’s like a lottery where I already know the numbers. I just have to keep digging.

Argo’s party are high earners too, but it never hurts to have more money. In fact, life can get tough after retiring from being an adventurer, so it’s important to have savings.

Some live in luxury and don’t think about that. Adventurers are always walking alongside danger, so some think if you can have fun now, be happy.

Both are correct, it’s up to the individual to decide.

I’m getting off track.

If I’m going in the water, I need equipment before skills.

I can’t go in the monster infested water in swim trunks. Even with a shield and defensive skills.

So, should I take care of equipment first?

Something that’s not heavy even when wet, and works like what I have now. That said, I used monster materials to make this, so I don’t have to do any sort of special processing.

I’ve been hunting aquatic monsters, so I think I can do it with their materials, but will they be as good as what I have now?

I use sahagin and reaper fur, and get to work making clothes right away.

I’m using Alchemy and Synthesis with two spare pieces of clothing.

It drains a lot of magic energy, but works.

I put them on… and don’t go to the lake. Instead I use Earth Magic to make an enclosure and pour water in it with Water Magic.

I jump in, and water splashes.

…It’s not heavy. Looks like I can go in the water and not feel that weight. Although I can’t move like I do on the surface.

Next, I need to actually check in the lake.

The lake is shallow, up to my ankles, but it suddenly gets deep ten meters in.

I put my face in the water and look inside. I can see two or three meters ahead, but it gets blurry after that.

Hn, I guess I really do need new skills.

What if I combined skills?

If I want to see further away, I have Farsight.

I try using it, and my vision clears up. That said, I still can’t see everything underwater.

Still, I can see pretty far ahead. How far exactly… I don’t know, but ooh… I express my wonder without thinking.

Air comes out of my mouth, and I have to leave the water.

Next I’ll see what I can do underwater, but I don’t have to fight, I just need to lure monsters.

Then I keep trying skills, but eventually I leave the lake. I think I should report on what I’m doing.

“Is that okay?”

“We can’t go to the tartarugas for now, so I want to test if it’s possible around here.”

As I expected, Mia is worried.

What I want to try next is using Transfer underwater. I want to go up to the tartarugas and lure them.

I don’t know if they’ll take the bait, but I think they’ll come after me if they see me.

The issues are how far I can Transfer without missing my target, and how different it is underwater compared to on the surface.

I’ll have to check the MP spent to see if it’s the same.

“…If it’s not possible, you can just stop. And you need to check if you can do it first, right?”

Mia and Chris are still worried, but Rurika is okay with it.

Although she does give me a warning.
