Zaraki opposed the order, but Koumaru ignored him and summoned a shikigami.
The shikigami spread its wings wide and turned giant. Koumaru got on it, and it grabbed the wounded and barely mobile Zaraki before taking off.
“Koumaru is getting away! Form a pursuit party and go after him!!”
“We have a lot of wounded! First aid unit, hurry!!”
Not long after, the voices of the guards could be heard as they arrived, and Yuugo’s friends mustered up their strength to walk towards him, seeing he was even more wounded than Zaraki.
Ryuuga, who was the one furthest away, stood in front of him with his eyes wide open… and Yuugo pitched forward as if he were falling.
“We managed to get through it, but… we couldn’t save Raiha…”
“Big brother! Hang on!!”
“Hurry first aid unit! We have someone badly wounded!!”
Ryuuga caught Yuugo as he fell, and heard his whisper as well as the voices of their friends.
He yelled with an anguished expression when he saw Yuugo’s wounds were deeper than he thought, and asked him a question.
“Why, Yuugo… Why did you go that far to save me…!?”
Yuugo’s body must have been approaching its limit when he suffered damage from the gigantroses’ bombs. The wounds he suffered in the hospital played a part, but he was definitely not fighting at his best.
And yet, Yuugo got up to save Ryuuga from the approaching danger, used a trump card that could be fatal, and fought Zaraki to a draw.
He must have known he would pay a heavy price, so why go that far, asked Ryuuga. The very wounded Yuugo had the same lively smile as always, as he answered.
“Ryuuga… Don’t ask me questions when you already know the answer. And you do know the answer, right?”
“…!!”
Yuugo grabbed Ryuuga’s arm tight. He saw lives about to be taken in front of him, his dear partner in danger, and his body moved… That was all.
Ryuuga understood Yuugo’s will and gulped, and Yuugo continued.
“Sorry… I think I’ll have to rest for a while. I’m leaving Raiha to you and the others…”
“Don’t talk anymore, Yuugo! Any more and…!!”
Melt stopped Yuugo, as even though she was casting healing magic, it would not be nearly enough to treat the heavily wounded Yuugo. But he shook his head.
His body was at its limit, and he had to muster up his energy to even speak, but he turned to Ryuuga again.
“Ryuuga, you didn’t forget what we talked about that night, right?”
“No, I remember. I wouldn’t forget…!”
“I see… Then it’s okay…”
Yuugo clenched his fist tight, and tapped Ryuuga’s on the left side of his chest.
Ryuuga could feel the trust placed in him from Yuugo’s faint smile and his clenched fist, and as he gulped, Yuugo spoke with a very weak voice.
“I trust you, partner. I’m sure you…”
“Yuugo…?”
The arm reaching to tap Ryuuga’s chest dropped.
After mustering up his strength to say one last thing, Yuugo stopped moving completely. Ryuuga held him tightly, and let out an anguished sound.
“Big brother? Big brother! Big brotheeeeer!!”
Everyone watching gasped, and Phi screamed with tears in his eyes.
