“Hey, Yuugo.”
“Eh? Jinba!? Why are you here?”
During a day off, Yuugo accepted a request from the orphanage that helped him during the Rush incident, and was working there with Phi.
He was surprised to see Jinba pop up during a break, who smiled as he spoke.
“Working hard, I see. You seem popular with the kids too, so this really is a perfect job for you.”
“A-ah… I’m happy about the compliments, but what brings you here? Do you need something with me?”
It did not seem like Jinba was just passing by while on patrol… so Yuugo repeated the question.
Did another annoying incident sprout, wondered Yuugo, and Jinba eventually responded.
“Actually, I need to see Angel.”
“Eh? An? Why?”
“I need her to do maintenance on this…”
He said as he took something from his pocket.
Yuugo took it, and mumbled while staring at it.
“What is this…?”
“Is this a foldable bowgun?”
“You know what it is, Phi?”
“Yes. If you do this here…”
What Jinba handed to Yuugo seemed like a black grip.
It was heavier than it seemed, and had something that looked like a trigger, but Yuugo could not make heads or tails of it. But when he asked Phi, who seemed to know, he took it from his brother’s hands and controlled something with magic energy.
There was a clanking sound, and a gun barrel was deployed from the grip. And it formed a bowgun just like Phi said.
“The basis is the same as Blaster’s. Foldable parts and metal particles made into a simple portable bowgun, right?”
“Eh! But what about the arrows?”
“They are made from the user’s magic energy. Like Melt’s Seward Ring.”
“Hon! That’s pretty useful! Do guards usually use this?”
“No. Phi explained it well, but it’s not that useful of a weapon. This is mine, I’ve had it for close to twenty years.”
Said Jinba. It did seem pretty old, thought Yuugo as he looked at it again, and asked another question.
“Couldn’t you ask a maintenance team of the guards? Wouldn’t that be faster?”
“Baro. I told you it’s mine. I can’t ask guards to do maintenance on something I don’t use for work.”
“Well, I get it… But why the hurry? It’s not really damaged or anything, and if you don’t use it for work, there’s no hurry in maintaining it…”
“…I just felt like it. There’s no big reason.”
He said as he took a cigarette from his pocket.
He was about to light it, but Yuugo took it from his hand, and pointed to the children behind them.
Jinba smiled awkwardly, gestured an apology, and continued.
“Sorry, but ask Angel if she can do maintenance on it. I intend to pay for it.”
“Okay. But I don’t know if she’ll accept it. An has been cooped up in the workshop working on something.”
Ever since they received the loong materials from the three heads of families, An had been researching and working.
Yuugo said he did not know if she would accept a job at that time, but Jinba said it was all right.
“Just ask her. If she won’t do it, that’s okay. Sorry for coming here with this all of a sudden.”
Said Jinba as he waved and left.
As they watched him leave, Yuugo whispered as his little brother put the bowgun back into its grip form.
“An old magic item… Why did he bring this here all of a sudden…?”
Yuugo was confused by the sudden request, but figured he’d just speak to Angel.
If she accepted, he could ask more when it was returned to Jinba, he thought as he began playing with the children.
